Busy is the rare entertainer whose impressive arsenal of talents as an actress is equally matched by her storytelling ability, sense of humor, and sharp observations about life, love, and motherhood. Her conversational writing reminds us what we love about her on screens of all sizes.

Better than anticipated & so great as narrated by Busy
Revisado: 10-26-18
I’ll be honest, I was really looking forward to this book. The first half is tough. Real and raw, I was nearly in tears and texted a friend to make sure it wasn’t going to further wrench my heart out. The second half flies by - so much lighter and full of Hollywood snippets and funny ditties. It’s all good and a book I would recommend - loved hearing this narrated by Busy! She should do impersonations more often because she’s spot-on! Definitely purchase!

On the eve of turning 30, terrified of being funneled into a life he didn’t choose, Jedidiah Jenkins quit his dream job and spent 16 months cycling from Oregon to Patagonia. He chronicled the trip on Instagram, where his photos and reflections drew hundreds of thousands of followers, all gathered around the question: What makes a life worth living? In this unflinchingly honest memoir, Jed narrates his adventure - the people and places he encountered on his way to the bottom of the world - as well as the internal journey that started it all.

Do not miss this story well told. It is especially beautiful listened to in the authors voice. I loved every minute of this journey and did not want it to end. It is beautifully written and thoughtfully composed. You will be changed after this book - maybe only slightly - and definitely for the better!

Historia
Rapper and singer Dessa gives a candid account of her life as a touring musician, her determination to beat long odds to make a name for herself, and her struggle to fall out of love with someone in her band. Raw and intimate, Dessa demonstrates just how far the mind can travel while the body is on the six-hour ride to the next rap show. Dessa finds unconventional approaches to all of her subjects - braiding her lived experience with academic research and a poet's tone and timing. In the vein of thinkers who defy categorization, we get the debut of a deft, likable, and unusual voice.

Magical mémoire
Revisado: 09-21-18
Dessa may not be fluent in French, but she is fully articulate in the storytelling of her history and creating a place where the reader can join along in the touring of her noisy mind.
I have admired the artist Dessa for awhile, her writing and raps, her singing, her speeches, her interviews.
I preordered her book and decided I couldn’t wait for the actual delivery. Some books are better listened to and this is definitely one of them. Dessa telling her stories is like securing the front of the line at one of her shows. You notice the inflection and the pause and the spit. Do not miss this book. Do not miss her telling it.

Historia
On November 13, 2015, Antoine Leiris’s wife, Hélène Muyal-Leiris, was killed by terrorists while attending a rock concert at the Bataclan Theater in Paris, in the deadliest attack on France since World War II. Three days later, Leiris wrote an open letter addressed directly to his wife’s killers, which he posted on Facebook. He refused to be cowed or to let his 17-month-old son’s life be defined by Hélène’s murder. He refused to let the killers have their way: “For as long as he lives, this little boy will insult you with his happiness and freedom.”

Historia
Marie-Laure lives with her father in Paris near the Museum of Natural History, where he works as the master of its thousands of locks. When she is six, Marie-Laure goes blind and her father builds a perfect miniature of their neighborhood so she can memorize it by touch and navigate her way home. When she is 12, the Nazis occupy Paris and father and daughter flee to the walled citadel of Saint-Malo, where Marie-Laure’s reclusive great-uncle lives in a tall house by the sea. With them they carry what might be the museum’s most valuable and dangerous jewel.

Historia
The debut psychological thriller that will forever change the way you look at other people's lives. Every day the same. Rachel takes the same commuter train every morning and night. Every day she rattles down the track, flashes past a stretch of cozy suburban homes, and stops at the signal that allows her to daily watch the same couple breakfasting on their deck. She’s even started to feel like she knows them. Jess and Jason, she calls them. Their life - as she sees it - is perfect. Not unlike the life she recently lost.

Couldn't stop listening
Revisado: 08-05-16
One of the best books I've read in awhile. I understand the comparison to Gone Girl but to me there is none because this novel is much, much better. It was narrated wonderfully and the brilliant readers added to the suspense.
I loved everything about this tale, the perspectives, the way the story ebbed and flowed. I was hooked quickly and did not want the story to end!

Revisado: 07-06-16
Cary Elwes is a joy to listen to (can his lovely accent please replace that of my GPS?!&$*)
His story is heartfelt and for those who love The Princess Bride it is a treasure to hear the gem behind the scenes perspectives - not only from Cary's POV, but also the amazing cast and crew.
Did I mention that Cary does amazing impressions? I honestly felt like an intimate guest at his dining room table hearing these stories told. Some books are simply better as narrated by the author and this is one of them. Do not miss out - this is hands down one of the best 'reading' experiences I've had in ages. I loved it as much as I love The Princess Bride.
