If you have any interest in WW 11, this book is for you. Great narration really fitting what one might imagine Lambert would sound like.

I think David Cook has become my favorite D&D author. Good narration as well. Definitely gritty and cold. Very well done.

Dont' Do it
Revisado: 08-07-24
This is not good. The writing is good and it was nice to hear Castle Ravenloft brought alive, or undead as it were, by this narrator, but that's where it ends.
The choices presented give no clue what so ever on which is the right choice. It is basically luck. If you want to hear Castle Ravenloft come alive with a one dimensional character, then listen to it front to back and don't try to skip chapters with your choices. It was terribly frustrating to try. Some paths you go down had no way to correct yourself and once the narration started on a choice I often found myself saying, "If I knew that I wouldn't have picked this way."
This had the potential to be very enjoyable but it failed. I think they writer could have written a good short story that would have been way better than this instead of trying to make a playable options book.

Many people dream of escaping modern life, but most will never act on it. This is the remarkable true story of a man who lived alone in the woods of Maine for 27 years, making this dream a reality—not out of anger at the world, but simply because he preferred to live on his own.

Great but could do w/o the poor hermit view
Revisado: 07-06-24
Narration great, book was great. It was incredibly interesting information. The hermit was a very interesting individual. Just prepare yourself for the, this poor hermit undertone. You can be a hermit without being a criminal. More emphasis should have been placed on the damage he did to the environment, and terror he struck in peoples minds and hearts.

Historia
Since World War II, the American public has become fully aware of the exploits of the 101st Airborne Division, the paratroopers who led the Allied invasions into Nazi-held Europe. But within the ranks of the 101st, a sub-unit attained legendary status at the time, its reputation persisting among veterans over the decades. Primarily products of the Dustbowl and the Depression, the Filthy13 grew notorious, even within the ranks of the elite 101st. Never ones to salute an officer, or take a bath, this squad became singular within the Screaming Eagles.

Good story but action was not great
Revisado: 07-06-24
The plot and story were good, characters were good, but listening to the action was sometimes painful. The main Character with his super bow reminded me of the western gunslinger who never missed. Ogre after Ogre taken down with a single arrow got very old. Even a well place arrow on a deer could result in the deer running a mile before bleeding out. It just became unbelievable even for a fantasy. The constant body count was pushing toward a Rambo movie.
Overall it wasn't bad bordering on god.

Revisado: 07-06-24
I didn't really enjoy this book and have no intention of reading further in the series. Maybe I should have started with the first series about Elidor. The narrator did a good job but tried a little too hard with the voices of different characters. Made it a little hard to listen to, but it was a great try.

Terrible waste of my time
Revisado: 07-06-24
I am not a Ed Greenwood fan but I generally like his books. This however was his worst book I have read. Narrator did a good job though. The tone of the book suddenly shifted moods from mystery, serious tragedy, playful adventure, attempts at humor, to teasing erotic back and forth like the book had a mental disease or was on drugs. For example while investigating a murder, where multiple other people had just been gruesomely murdered, suddenly the heroin felt it necessary to get all dressed up for a cordial diner with the nobles on the grounds that had nothing to contribute to plot.. I also didn't like all the unexplained magic that didn't seem to have any boundaries. I know this was a fantasy novel but there wasn't a shred of, "I could see that happening." in the book.

Different than most D&D books
Revisado: 07-06-24
The character development is in depth and not about your typical hero's we so often read about in D&D books. The only bad thing I would say is that it almost seemed like a season of Son's of Anarchy where there isn't a good person on the show. In this book there is potential for a few and I hope that turns out to be the case.. Story line is different than most D&D books as well and takes on a true infrastructure and political suspense story line with some action mixed in. It is a refreshing difference and I am looking forward to the rest in the series.
