awesome storyline for the romantic
Revisado: 06-22-18
it's been an emotional ride with the first 3 books... basically it's an immersive book that makes you feel you are there.... not just reading of someone else, and isn't that the best type of story to find?

This book is awesome, has to be since Spitfire is introduced. Though I must say I didn't like Gerard Doyle as narrator nearly as much as the first book's.

Absolutely adore this series
Revisado: 10-08-16
I love this whole series... I can't wait until my sons are old enough to get them into Septimus. This first book sets the background so well for the rest of the series, yet it's non-stop action all the way through. Ms Sage does so well building characters that you really feel as though you could walk into the ramblings and be able to pick most of the Heap family out of a crowd. Also a side note... I was a bit skeptical in the beginning of Allan Corduner as narrator for the series as I read the books beforehand and automatically being female thought a female voice would be best... especially in this first book where most of the speaking is done by female characters but he does them so well and I am quite happy to admit how wrong I was.

Historia
Years ago, the magnificent dragon queen Tintaglia forged a bargain with the inhabitants of the treacherous Rain Wilds. In exchange for her protection against enemy invaders, the humans promised to protect an unhatched brood of dragons. But when the dragons emerged as weak and misshapen hatchlings unable to fend for themselves, dragonkind seemed doomed to extinction. When even Tintaglia deserted the crippled young dragons, the Rain Wilders abandoned the burden of caring for the destructive and ravenous creatures.

Fantastic conclusion to the series
Revisado: 03-30-16
Listening to the series in order has made all the difference in the world. Small details recall the previous series and it seems that it makes the series feel complete. The epilogue also makes the Fitz and the Fool series make more sense. Last time I didn't have this series and basically read & listened piecemeal as I got them. I remember the confusion I felt at the circumstances of them being away from buck keep... it made that series a hard read and very slow to get into. I speculate that reading in order will make all the difference.

great book
Revisado: 03-25-16
This book was very hard to put down from the time I started to the time it ended. It is awesome the continuation of the Tawny Man trilogy, it builds in great depth on the relationship of the fool and the fitz... introducing Dutiful... and the wit takes on new shape and prominence. Only issue I had with his book was it seemed that the ending was abrupt and unfinished, luckily I have the next book to go on to but it makes this impossible to read as a single book.

Good start
Revisado: 03-22-16
This is a hard story to begin slow to start but wraps you up so thoroughly that by the middle of the book you just can't put it down. I did find that the slow start was made much easier by reading the books in order this time... the information given bringing back both the Farseer series and Liveship traders. it also added a bit of humor for example a horses name being the budding Elderling horses name. All in all a good start to the series... persevere through the slow start and you won't regret it.
