Young or old, this series will have you entranced by its story. Such an enjoyable story and a fun concept. This year’s trials to continue was my favorite in the series so far. It kept me on the edge of my seat. I cannot wait to see what happens next.

This one is by far the best one I’ve read in the series so far!

I thought it was well written, albeit a little predictable and corny at times. I honestly don’t mind either so neither are really a turn off for me. And as much as I love YA, I expect a little predictable and corny. There were a few twists in there I wasn’t expecting and some parts I wish would have been explained more thoroughly. There was a mystery related to books 4 and 5 that I don’t recall an explanation for. It’s very possible that it was explained/resolved and I missed it due to some confusing narration that I really struggled with.

I have a difficult time with books with jumping character POV’s . It can often take 2-3 reads to fully comprehend the story because each pov reset throws me out of the story. Knowing I have this issue I tend to not judge the story too harshly on a first read because once POV’s start jumping I know I will naturally miss things regardless of how hard I try to stay in the story. That being said I struggled more than usual due to the narration. Although the narrator did a great job on the general story, female pov’s and had some voices. What really complicated things further for me was that all of the male narration was told in a female voice even though she changed their speaking voice to male. It caused confusion for me regarding which character pov I was in. The chapters start by telling you which pov you’re in so I’d typically start off ok, trying to weave myself back into the story but often after a minute or so I would default back to either thinking it was the mc’s pov or the last female pov I was in because it was read as a female. And unfortunately the chapter listing doesn’t tell you. Almost every male pov I had to try and discern who I was by the character interactions which could sometimes take a few minutes.

I will read this again. I did enjoy it despite my complaints and hopefully have some things cleared up during that reread.

I don’t like to DNF books and with it being such a short story I really want to power on, but I’m really struggling with the narrator and staying in the story. The narrator hardly changes her voice from character to character. It’s hard to tell what’s going on, who’s saying it, or if it’s even being said out loud. There is no change to the narration and little acting. It all sounds like inner monologue the way it’s read. When reading a male character I can her a very subtle half step down in her voice but it’s very unnoticeable unless you’re really looking for it. She also uses her British accent for every character which takes me further out of the story. It feels more like an 1800s London story than it does an Asian fairytale. She also does something with her pronunciation that I can quite put my finger on but it’s really bothering me. I think the narrator needs more work and could be great with some more practice and adding in more voice work, but unfortunately I’m going to have to try to find the time to read the physical copy because I think the concept sounds really interesting but for the first time I’m not able to not hear the narrator when listening to a book.

For fans of Phantom of the Opera and YA Fantasy. It’s kind of like a ‘what if Christine was the Phantom’ type story. The book was a bit predictable because I know phantom very well but predictable doesn’t usually bother me. I’d read it again. I loved the narrator as well. I’ve read several books she’s narrated and as always she was stellar.

I do not enjoy NF and every other attempt at a Bio/abio, even for topics I enjoy, have been an epic fail. This one I enjoyed immensely. I’m a big HP fan and I love Tom as a person so I thought I’d give it a go not expecting it to hold my attention for long. I was entertained the entire time and learned some fun tidbits. He did voices, was clever, and entertaining, and the stories were comical and interesting. He did a good job in both writing and narrating. Definitely worth the 6 hours of your time if you are a fan of Tom or HP.

It’s a great series, I’ve read it several times but getting into it is difficult. The Narrator sounds so robotic. I just came off of 2 very animated and wonderfully narrated series and decided it was time for a reread. Coming from my last stellar performance to this, I legit thought this was computer read and not an actual person. I completely forgot how horribly read it is. Really hoping for an eventual re narration.

I like the concept and the story isn’t awful, however Persephone in this one is pretty annoying. Most of the book she’s complaining about something and then turns around and does the exact same thing but she thinks it’s ok for her to do it because she’s a big girl and can take care of her own problems.

Also, I don’t mind spice in my books. I expected it with this being a romance book. I was not expecting what feels like a fan fiction written by a horny teenager. It’s over the top in my opinion. The narrator does a good job with her performance. She gets really into tho which did make me laugh a few times.

The voice actress was great. Unfortunately the story itself was very predictable and the ending was pretty cheesy. The only reason I finished it was because I was asked to for work. The story behind the charms was interesting tho. Particularly the first charm.
