I had to take a star for that ending. Sorry I just did not enjoy that. The sugary sweetness of the writing already had me giving it 4 stars. But that last bit…. Yeah, no.

Always was one of my faves

I read this book back when it first came out in 2003. Still gets me. The narrator was a bit blah, but I think, for me, it’s because she sounds like Michelle Obama. Weird having Michelle reading this kind of book to me. lol Anyway the story is great, but the tragic ending hurts my heart. I got attached to that character. Anyhoo, still a great read and still profound today. Even with all the seriously dated pop culture references. lol

Better than I thought it would be

I made a mistake and got this book before the previous one, but it didn't matter. I ended up really liking it. Sure, all the rape and stuff gave me serious pause, but the story was a very good one and, in spite of the serious issue I, personally, have with rape, I still could see how the relationship between Circe and Lahn could develop the way that it did. Still, I must be honest and say this probably is NOT a good book for anyone who is triggered by rape. Don't bother, please skip this series. For me, it was brutal, but I understood how it was a part of a culture where better was not known. All in all, great read. Now, on to Book One.

Very predictable, very bland, poorly written. Just not that great. The narration was monotone and dispassionate, by both narrators. I'll be sending this one back for my credit. I only gave it two stars because I managed to finish it.

Walking Dead turns kinky

I liked this story, but there were, definitely, some Walking Dead elements to it. I didn't mind, though, being a Walking Dead fan. The plot seemed a bit all over the place in some spots, but it wrapped up fairly neatly. Or as neat as one can be, in the zombie apocalypse. I look forward to the next book in the series.

I didn't like it as much as I thought I would

I really enjoy Laurann Dohner's Cyborg and New Species series and this sort of reminded me of that. Also a little of the Zorn Warrior series is in this too. But too many things conflicted to me, that left this book failing where those aforementioned books didn't.

First, this guy, Zoran, is supposed to be a king and a warrior but he's easily captured twice and has his mate stolen almost as soon as he takes her home. What is that about?? Also, when she goes into heat, how do the other men in their society not smell his scent on her? Even with her in heat, they should acknowledge and respect that. Right? Plus, isn't he king? So there's no hierarchy there? He just has to flee his own home because the men might rape his woman, who should, by all rights, be the queen?? Just weird. This book had potential, but too many weird things happened that bugged me.

Great story

All I will say is you've got to hand it to the author. This book was wonderfully written, the story compelling and riveting. You'll be biting your nails and on the edge of your seat through much of it. But that ending? Geesh! If you don't immediately get the next book, you're nuts. lol Now, on to the next installment.

I liked it, but...

It wasn't that fleshed out. I don't feel like I really got to know Ben. Seemed rushed and the conclusion was pretty cliche. Overall, because I like the series, I liked this book and it was worth the credit for that reason. Still, wish there had been more back story on Ben.

Like so many of the popular erotic fiction books out now. A lot of the same wording and scenarios. I actually fell asleep listening to this, woke up, and didn't even need to rewind, even though I missed five hours. Just too predictable and cliche.
