Historia
Bryan Stevenson was a young lawyer when he founded the Equal Justice Initiative, a legal practice dedicated to defending those most desperate and in need: the poor, the wrongly condemned, and women and children trapped in the farthest reaches of our criminal justice system. One of his first cases was that of Walter McMillian, a young man who was sentenced to die for a notorious murder he insisted he didn’t commit. The case drew Bryan into a tangle of conspiracy, political machination, and legal brinksmanship—and transformed his understanding of mercy and justice forever.

If you would have told me that in the year 2020 I would stand at the White House podium and communicate with the American people as COVID-19 ravaged the globe and violent protests beset the nation, I would have told you that you were crazy. But Jesus Christ had this very plan for my life.

Wow, experience tells the truth.

I highly recommend this book. I appreciate the fact that Kayleigh narrated the book herself. She is a gentle, strong and ethical example for us all. Her transparency and honesty is appreciated. I have read other books by those who know former President Trump personally, and what they say about him will hopefully help those who hate him see the truth about him. Is he perfect? No more than I am. But this book tells it like it is as far as I can tell. Kayleigh’s insights she learned through observation helps me understand why those in power at this time are so radically uncomfortable and fearful of him and what he accomplished as he “made America great again.” And I believe he did it by God’s power and help from America’s patriots.
Thanks Kaleigh. You’re awesome.

Historia
After waking from a coma following a car crash, Beverly Thornton's once sweet and gentle disposition had been replaced by violent mood swings, profanity-laced tirades, and uncontrollable fits of rage. Inside the Thornton house, floors and countertops were piled high with dirty laundry and garbage because Bev was unable to move well enough to clean. Dinners were a Russian roulette of half-cooked meat, spoiled milk, and foods well past their expiration dates.

Thanks for being vulnerable in order to help others

I just finished listening to this book. I love the fact that he did his own recording for his own life story. I appreciate the raw honesty and believe our world would be a better place if more people felt the freedom to share more openly. No life is perfect, but inviting Christ into it gives us reason to hope. Mental illness touches so many families, and I appreciate the way Shawn described it and the change he was willing to make in his way of approaching his mom. Stay with the story. It's very insightful in the end. I recommend this book to those who know someone (perhaps themselves) who is touched with mental illness. I recommend it for those who have questions about mental illness. But most of all, I recommend it to those who believe and teach if you tried harder to live like Jesus wants us to, you could be okay again. Of course that should be our goal; to ask Jesus to be our Lord and Savior, to study and meditate on the Bible, to talk to Him often, and to recognize the Holy Spirit's presence. But as important as that is, it doesn't erase mental illness any more than it does cancer. It would be wonderful in our opinion if it did, but God knows what He's doing. He uses the messy things in our lives to reach out to others. This book does an excellent job of showing just that.

Historia
When all seems lost, where can hope be found? Katherine and Jay married right after college and sought adventure far from home in Los Angeles, CA. As they pursued their dreams - she as a model and he as a lawyer - they planted their lives in the city and in their church community. Their son, James, came along unexpectedly in the fall of 2007, and just six months later, everything changed in a moment for this young family. On April 21, 2008, as James slept in the other room, Katherine collapsed, suffering a massive brain stem stroke without warning.

One of my favorite attributes of the book Is the raw honesty this couple exhibit. They are not self seeking, but they are real. If you think you're having it tough, and you probably are, this is the book for you. I gave it 5 stars because it kept me engaged throughout the reading, and I don't how how they could have improved on it.
