After being captured by the Germans, he would have to endure two of the most gruesome Concentration Camps until a Scandinavian rescue mission eventually helped bring him, and thousands of other prisoners, back home. This story was written by the main character's granddaughter.

A memorable book

This audiobook is a memorable story and beautifully written. I loved the details of this event and the fact that it's written by the main character's own granddaughter is a nice and different touch. I was able to "relive" a devastating part of human history. Even though there are many other stories out there about WWII and the nazi death camps, this one is a different perspective from someone who lived through the horror and provides some shockingly new historical details I didn't know about.
