Outpouring of magic and dimensional worlds
Revisado: 07-05-15
Where does Cat Magic rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Maybe the top 10.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
I kept thinking something bigger was building, but it kind of ended short. I hope there is a sequel.
Have you listened to any of Maria Marquis’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I have not.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
sometimes! Other times, it dragged on a bit.
Any additional comments?
* I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review ** I'm a big Whitley Strieber fan but I was somewhat put off by the big evil being , once again, portrayed as someone identifying themselves as a Christian. Although, they did manage to show some of the other Christians in the community as not being crazy bigoted trash. The concept of people being close to the earth and wanting to live in their own way was amazingly well done. It was interesting and the use of the Crone and the Maiden allegory was brought to life in the telling.

Historia
Gen was a bard's apprentice, his nimble hands meant for the lute and his voice for a song. Then the half-mad and completely bored Shadan Khairn invaded Gen's village to winter there and start a war. He shoved a sword in Gen's hands and tormented his body, shaping a bard into a warrior to be killed for sport. As the days of torture pile up like the snow, Gen searches for death. But the day is at hand when the shattered shards of the world will knit together again, and the world's slain god will be reborn.

Not that I can recall but I will look for his performances in the future.

Historia
Looking back with wiser eyes now, my family and I concluded that the events leading up to my transformation started during the summer I turned nine. But the day we realized there was a problem - and there was no turning back - was a week before I started my senior year at Junction City High. That was the day the fangs and claws appeared, and the monster inside me emerged. When mutilated corpses appeared near a pile of brush down by Caney Creek, everything changed.

When you realize what the Guardian was guarding.

Where does Moonlands rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
I think it's in the top 5.
Who was your favorite character and why?
As a YA story, the characters just seemed young to me, but I did like how Blackwater Blaze was able to see past what he thought he wanted and do the honorable thing.
What about Becky Doughty’s performance did you like?
I'm not sure how she made the Wolfen voices, but it came across well and it drew you in.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Historia
Three lovers who stalk and kill the immortals that drift through South Florida (tourists are a moveable feast, after all) are living a simple life of leisure- until one of them is nearly killed by a woman who is a new kind of lethal. When Ring Hardigan isn't making sandwiches for, and with, his two partners, Waleska and Risa (they're cool like that), he's got a busy schedule doing the dirty work of sending immortals to the ever after.

Immortals abound!
Revisado: 06-08-15
Would you consider the audio edition of The Forest Bull to be better than the print version?
I haven't read the print version.
What other book might you compare The Forest Bull to and why?
I would say the relationships in it remind me of Anita Blake and her complicated men situations. But the storyline had more of a Merry Gentry series feel to it because of the variety of immortals.
What does Rebecca Cook bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
She did such a good job I forgot that the male characters were read by a female voice, so it never distracted me.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
When they realize that the small time attempts of ridding the world of immortals really wasn't even making a dent in the population, and that they look at time differently than humans.
Any additional comments?
I was given this book free for an unbiased review. I think it was well worth the time, and if you like the fae/mythology genre then you will be intrigued by this book.

There are some pretty exciting battle scenes but I love Aranya's interaction with Mac.

What made the experience of listening to Witch for Hire the most enjoyable?
I could really get a picture of the characters and what they were like, I certainly liked the characters voices.

Which scene was your favorite?
The plant going bezerk in her bathroom made me laugh.

Revisado: 05-26-15
Would you consider the audio edition of Kill It with Magic to be better than the print version?
I have no idea what the print version is like, but I absolutely would recommend the audio edition.
What other book might you compare Kill It with Magic to and why?
I just don't know that there is one that is comparable. Lillum is an amazing contradiction, as many young girls are at this age. Power, and the ability to put aside her personal feelings to do the right things make for a strong character with room to grow.
What does Rebecca Roberts bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I liked her changing voice to fit different characters.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
When she felt she had let her heart lead her and that she was betrayed, I felt terrible for her.
