Historia
Over the course of two weeks, everything in Beartown will change. Two years have passed since the events that no one wants to think about. Everyone has tried to move on, but there’s something about this place that prevents it. The destruction caused by a ferocious late-summer storm reignites the old rivalry between Beartown and the neighboring town of Hed, a rivalry which has always been fought through their ice hockey teams. Maya Andersson and Benji Ovich, two young people who left in search of a better life, come home and joyfully reunite with their closest childhood friends.

Just perfection
Revisado: 12-09-22
I love this whole series .. if there was a 5+ star I would award it to this book. You can read as a stand alone but I highly recommend the other two books as there are so many layers and the characters are built over time as they grow up. It has everything. Sad, happy, courageous, stoic, humorous are just a few adjectives that spring to mind … just all tied together in a story of human nature and life, what Fredrik Backman does so well is that every character counts, they aren’t just written in there gratuitously. They all weave intricately together and he always leaves you wanting more, even though the endings don’t just finish abruptly, time is spent rounding out each person so we can imagine their futures. As an add-on .. there hasn’t been a single FB book that I haven’t loved and really it all stems from the characters he creates and how much he drags you into their world.

Historia
After being released from prison and winning South Africa’s first free election, Nelson Mandela presided over a country still deeply divided by 50 years of apartheid. His plan was ambitious if not far-fetched: use the national rugby team, the Springboks—long an embodiment of white-supremacist rule—to embody and engage a new South Africa as they prepared to host the 1995 World Cup.

For Leaders in any field: a must read
Revisado: 07-14-20
A factual account of Nelson Mandela’s rise to the presidency focussing in the main on his ability to read others and adapt his tactics to ensure a positive outcome for all. The pinnacle of the read comes towards the end from his idea of uniting a country through sport and the common bond of a unified country when it is behind a team competing against the rest of the world. Everything you learn about Mandela from his early days you see employed in his presidency and the successes going forward. Never more appropriate than in today’s tumultuous society are the convictions of Nelson Mandela. The world needs more Nelson’s ❤️
