Historia
When Horace travels to the exotic land of Nihon-Ja, it isn't long before he finds himself pulled into a battle that is not his - but one he knows in his heart he must wage. A kingdom teeters on the edge of chaos when the Nihon-Ja emperor, a defender of the common man, is forcibly overthrown, and only Horace, Will, and his Araluen companions can restore the emperor to the throne. Victory lies in the hands of an inexperienced group of fighters, and it's anybody's guess who will make the journey home to Araluen.

Great story and even better characters!
Revisado: 06-19-24
Only thing that threw me off a little was jhon keeting. His voice sounds different in this one. Which in turn makes halt and will’s voices different too. Almost felt like someone else was reading this book

Too many narrators, too many terrible voices
Revisado: 11-26-22
I’ve had this book for a long time. In paper back. I originally downloaded this book because I like to listen and read at the same time. Although I am finding myself regretting purchasing this book because all the characters narrations are horrible. Just doesn’t sound like they know how to read a book. It’s a shame I can’t return this book. This would’ve worked if all narrators were reading the same chapter doing their own separate characters voices.
There’s one narrator that knows how to read a book, tell a story and have great voices. I’m talking about John keating. At least I can follow someone doing multiple voices and still make sense and keep me interested. I can tell he’s a VET narrator. John keating makes These narrators sound like amateurs, which I believe is exactly the case. Looks like I’ll go back to reading it on my own.

Historia
What does it mean to earn the silver oakleaf? So few men have done so. For Will, a mere boy, that symbol of honor has long felt out of reach. Now, in the wake of Araluen's uneasy truce with the raiding Skandians comes word that the Skandian leader has been captured by a dangerous desert tribe. The Rangers are sent to free him. But the desert is like nothing these warriors have seen before. Strangers in a strange land, they are brutalized by sandstorms, beaten by the unrelenting heat, tricked by one tribe that plays by its own rules, and surprisingly befriended by another.
