The threat of war has arrived at Diem's doorstep, along with a new discovery that could save her people. To use it, she must survive the next thirty days by forming a devil's bargain with the people she hates most: the royal family of House Corbois. As she dives into the world of the Descended elite, Diem quickly realizes good and evil aren't as simple as they seem. Old prejudices are challenged, and new loyalties blur the line between friend and foe.

If I could give this narrator 10 stars I would. I love this series. I love everything about it. It’s my favorite. But this performance? Goodness gracious. Bravo. 😭

Historia
You have creative dreams swirling in your heart, but pursuing them while changing diapers and managing the carpool schedule feels impossible. You have no time. No space. You can mother, or you can create. You certainly can't do both (right?!). But what if you could pursue your God-given creative gifts alongside motherhood, for the enrichment of both experiences? What if you stopped viewing creativity as a selfish act, and started to see it as essential to your own flourishing as a mother? This book is a much-needed permission slip to do just that.

This book may have been the most important book I read this year. It caused me to ask questions about my creativity, how God created me and gifted me, and what I want to do with my gifts that I haven’t asked in a very long time. The part about your miscarriage had me sobbing while I was driving because I also had a miscarriage in the end of 2019/ beginning of 2020. It was my third pregnancy. The words you had spoken over you, the way you spoke about the experience (in real time too) was such a balm for my soul. I’m so sorry you’re in this club too. But thank you so much for your beautiful work. 🩷

Wasn’t expecting the Scriptures
Revisado: 05-18-23
But the book was good. I didn’t mind the scripture, but some of it was wildly out of context, reshaped to fit the narrative. Old lady note aside, it was a good read!

Historia
Women were there. For centuries, discussions of early Christianity have focused on male leaders in the church. But there is ample evidence right in the New Testament that women were actively involved in ministry, at the frontier of the gospel mission, and as respected leaders. Nijay Gupta calls us to bring these women out of the shadows by shining light on their many inspiring contributions to the planting, growth, and health of the first Christian churches.

If for no other reason than a perspective shift
Revisado: 05-12-23
I loved the book. It was everything I’d hoped. But I loved most, the perspective shifts on topics such as the woman at the well or Mary the mother of Jesus. It caused me to think, it caused me to cheer, I sent quotes to all of my friends. It is not a feminist manifesto, it is a level headed exposition of the people in the Bible who have been glossed over, and the validity of their roles and what that means for us today. When someone brings a historical point that makes sense, and also challenges what I grew up being taught in a clearly thoughtful way, it’s so exciting. This is that experience.
