Historia
As Guilliman, Regent of Terra, heads off to lead the Indomitus Crusade, he leaves behind a world still in turmoil, beset by cult activity. Stripped of its huge armies for the galactic offensive, recovery is precarious. The Custodians do what they can while keeping the Palace secure, and the Sisters of Silence rebuild their citadel on Luna. When the warship Phalanx returns, it seems that stability will at last be assured. However, as reconquest forces push out further into the slums, they come across signs that another mysterious foe is active.

Starting to become, meh for me.
Revisado: 10-29-22
I feel as if the Custodes and Astartes both have been subtly reduced in a few ways; simple minded; called inhuman yet they never seem it aside from description.
The Custodes have been very disappointing lately; their order, I feel, should have never diminished over the eons. It's as if they are being lazily written off as yet another decaying order under Imperial control.
They need to have been portrayed as terrifying whenever involved but unable to make any significant change as the imperium corrodes around them.
As it stands now, the Custodes feel mishandled, silly even; just a bunch of Space Marines in gold armor, with spears, a gross level of ignorance, naivete, and even downright stupidity.
When everything is weak, dull and/or grim, then nothing really stands out unless you tell me it does...

Historia
Fell times have come to the galaxy. Cadia has fallen, destroyed by the onslaught of Chaos. A Great Rift in the warp has opened, and from its depths spew daemons and the horrors of Old Night. But all hope is not lost.... A hero, long absent, has returned, and with him comes the wrath of the Ultramarines reborn. Roboute Guilliman has arisen to lead the Imperium out of darkness on a crusade the likes of which has not been seen since the fabled days of the Emperor.

Historia
Reborn in body and spirit beneath Mount Deathfire, the primarch Vulkan gathers his most trusted sons and prepares for the final part of his journey. The Legions shattered at Isstvan V have stalled the Warmaster’s advance across the galaxy, but fresh cracks are spreading through the alliance between the Iron Hands, Salamanders and Raven Guard, along with mysterious rumours of the return of Ferrus Manus. Haunted by a sense of destiny unfulfilled, Vulkan must choose between joining their war of vengeance against the traitors and following his own barely understood path all the way to the Throneworld itself.

Awesome 👍

Finally got to enjoy this great book. So can I assume that if Vulcan would recover from the Emperor's Fail-Safe device that the notion extends to the emperor himself?

stay away from the black library app
Revisado: 01-31-19
I purchased this audiobook along with another and an audio drama on the black library app... Due to unfortunate complications with the BL app, I had to make the purchases again; I'll gladly do so seeing as though I loved each one of my purchases that much!
I have listened to each one more than 10 times separately and may end up adding the "carrion throne" to my collection. 😏 I must be kidding myself I am definitely going to add it to my collection.
I have purchased this book four times now; only one was a gift!!
My collection is as follows:
"The master of mankind"
"The emperor's legion"
pretty soon hereafter the review "the carrion throne"
"The interrogation of Salvador Lermentov"
