Historia
In this award-winning Audible Studios production, Trevor Noah tells his wild coming-of-age tale during the twilight of apartheid in South Africa. It’s a story that begins with his mother throwing him from a moving van to save him from a potentially fatal dispute with gangsters, then follows the budding comedian’s path to self-discovery through episodes both poignant and comical.

I loved it. His life experience is fascinating. His mother is inspirational. This story is a perfect combination of humor, cultural exploration, and inspiration.

Historia
Detective Pia Kirchhoff is about to set off on a long-delayed honeymoon when she receives a phone call. An elderly woman has been shot and killed while walking her dog. A short while later, another murder is committed, and the modus operandi is eerily similar: A woman is killed by a bullet that smashes through her kitchen window - and in both cases the same weapon fired the shot. Two more murders follow in short order. None of the victims had enemies, and no one knows why they were singled out.

Not my favorite Neuhaus
Revisado: 07-13-16
Of the Nele Neuhaus audiobooks available in English, this has not been my favorite. I struggled to connect with the storyline. However Neuhaus stills employed her technique of slowly divulging information that keeps me listening until the end.

Thus story has wide appeal
Revisado: 03-13-16
I was initially concerned that this book would be too focused on teaching the word of God for me to be comfortable with it. However I found the references to Christian faith tastefully executed and not excessive. The author's story remained in tact while the religious references seemed to easily align with a traditional Western moral compass.

Months later my mind still wandered back to this

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes. The variety of characters and motivations for their individual actions kept you guessing.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Tobias - You sympathized with him from the beginning knowing he was wrongfully accused, yet unable to prove it due to his intoxication.

A feel good story with something for everyone
Revisado: 03-27-14
Would you listen to A Single Thread again? Why?
Perhaps. The story was easy to listen to and not detail-oriented, so it might be too boring for a second listen.
What did you like best about this story?
That the religious faith of the characters was introduced subtly and was not excessive for non-believers
Which scene was your favorite?
When Liza told her Aunt Abigail she was going to tattoo her name on her neck.
Any additional comments?
I enjoyed the voices of the four women well enough to purchase the next book in the series. I admit the spool of thread on the front cover drew me in, and the book included just enough about sewing to please my crafty nature.

Any additional comments?
I was very surprised to find out the author of this book was a man. He captures a woman's voice and thoughts so easily. I thoroughly his depiction of the three Supremes and their supporting male and female cast.
