Historia
A thrilling and irreverent memoir about the transformation of the advertising business from the 1980s to today. Richard Kirshenbaum was born to sell. Raised in a family of Long Island strivers, this future advertising titan was just a few years old when his grandfather first taught him that a Cadillac is more than a car, and that if you can’t have a Trinitron you might as well not watch TV. He had no connections when he came to Madison Avenue, but he possessed an outrageous sense of humor that would make him a millionaire.

This audio book brought back so many great memories.
I worked at K&B back in 1992 (SoHo office, next to Richard and Jon). I was only there for a year and helped Kiki Kendrick get the “drinks trolley” moved through the finance office, and anything else she needed. She taught me a lot about how advertising actually works.
It was especially nice hearing the back stories to so many of the campaigns and getting ‘off the radar’ glimpses into these tales, and the thought process behind the wild culture of K&B. After leaving K&B, I set up my own Fifth Ave. design firm. [ 8grape.com ]
I did wish there were more emphasis in this book, placed on the great business insight and idea generation, although there were still plenty of great biz take-a-ways to glean.
It is a great story book with copious coloring, in a true to form, NYC style, and obvious linguistic expertise from a modern day master.

Historia
Now, for the first time, Seth Godin offers the core of his marketing wisdom in one compact, accessible, and timeless package. This Is Marketing shows you how to do work you're proud of, whether you're a tech start-up founder, a small-business owner, or part of a large corporation. Great marketers don't use consumers to solve their company's problem; they use marketing to solve other people's problems. Their tactics rely on empathy, connection, and emotional labor instead of attention-stealing ads. When done right, marketing seeks to make change in the world.

As a designer and writer for 30 years, this book had both many new insights and gentle reminders. It is as relevant today as it will for the next decade. Read this. Take notes. Push current boundaries and never forget to know your customer as well as they know themselves.

This is a great audio book. The message is quite clear as well as the brief stories and statistical evidence. There’s even a chapter with some very useful affirmation procedures to adjust and prepare the readers mindset. Great!

Historia
In The Advertising Effect, respected advertising insider, Adam Ferrier, reveals the ten techniques used by some of the best-known brands across the globe. These techniques are grounded in psychological theory with award winning real world examples and explore how the most effective way to change behaviour is through action rather than the conventional advertising practices (emotional or rational persuasion).

Brilliant insight, concepts and ideas
Revisado: 09-08-22
First, the stories (case studies) mentioned throughout were not too onerous nor “cookie cutter” and helped to sink the sometimes complicated concepts and points home. The flavor of each example (aka case studies) had balanced seasoning, some sweet, some spicy, and some simply delicious.
Secondly, with the exception of just two authors mentioned, I too, had delved deeply 90% of all the authors mentioned in this book. The author (and narrator) is especially gifted at conveying confidence, never crossing the line to boasting or bragging of his massive advertising accomplishments.
If you want a book which uncovers many of the true techniques and overall mindset along with challenges that occur for Ad & Brand Marketing, Adam Ferrier is that man. This book is unbelievably rich in content with no apologies.

This book perfectly fills in the holes.
Revisado: 08-16-22
Pauline Brown’s expertise and experience (in Aesthetic Intelligence) fills in a huge hole in perception many companies rarely grasp. Her insight(s) brings critical pieces together in a greater understanding of marketing and what leads to deeper, more meaningful, customer brand (and design) engagement. The ideas and concepts in this book can be applied to Advertising, Branding, Communications, Design and improvement of the self. You may find a sober, crystal clear perspective begins to expand and cultivate a more full phenomenal (multi-sensory) experiences to benefit you, your employees, and patrons as well.
Of the 35 books I’ve listened to since the pandemic of 2020, this one tops the list. I can also see this book becoming one of the greatest business book contributions for the remaining decade. I think it is just that good.
Sincerely,
Breuk Iversen

Straight up, in your mouth, solid brand advice.
Revisado: 12-01-20
I found the advice and explanations by the author of this book to be on-point and powerful examples in creating a deeper attachment between a product or service and it’s customers. I’m 20 years in the Ad & Brand Market business (built Williamsburg | Brooklyn starting back in 2000) and still walked away with a handful of great tools from this book. I loved, loved loved it! — Breuk Iversen (12/2020)
