Historia
Jiri has always been special. Found as an infant in the ashes of her village, she was taken in by neighbors and trained to be a powerful jungle druid. Yet when Aspis Consortium mercenaries release an ancient evil that burns her adopted home to the ground, Jiri must gather a group of her own in order to get revenge and drive the mercantile foreigners from her land before they cause further damage. For in the heart of the Mwangi Jungle, sometimes the secrets of the past are best left buried.

Don't bother. It's HORRIBLE
Revisado: 10-22-24
Let me preface this with I have read/listened to a ton of Pathfinder and Ed Greenwood novels. I would liken this book to the Lord of the Rings books....but not the good parts. Mostly the Sam and Frodo parts....where they are just plodding through the forest complaining. The book is a series of pointless chase scenes and meaningless skirmishes. The transition between scenes is so fast it's hard to separate them so that you are trying to figure out how they just went from a pointless fight to sleeping on the roof. This would be better served by adding a 2 second pause between scenes but would have the unfortunate side effect of making this book longer. The 2 main characters are continually attacked by soldiers from 1 of 2 warring nations without warning and then unwittingly saved when the other nation attacks the other soldiers. At the rate at which this happens I am convinced no one actually lives and or talks in these nations. That being said: I am only 5 hours in, with 7 hours to go....but it's been a rough 5 hours.....like colonoscopy prep rough. I still have 7 hours to go and, like an idiot, I am going to finish it because I am either gullible enough to believe that no one would publish a book this bad without some amazing redeeming quality right around the corner or I am a literary masochist. Considering I read the entirety of Battlefield Earth it could be either one.....but I am leaning towards the second.

Historia
Kagur is a warrior of the Blacklions, fierce and fearless hunters in the savage Realm of the Mammoth Lords. When her clan is slaughtered by a frost giant she considered her adopted brother, honor demands that she, the last surviving Blacklion, track down her old ally and take the tribe's revenge. Yet this is no normal betrayal, for the murderous giant has followed the whispers of a dark god down into the depths of the earth, into a primeval cavern forgotten by time....

Good story, terrible performance
Revisado: 08-20-24
I have listened to many of the Pathfinder audio books. Some are good, some are great. This one was painful. The story was good but the narrator ruined it. She speaks with a halting, grunts way that makes me wonder if the total length could have been shortened by at least an hour. It's hard to explain....other than to....type (grunting) the...way...the story came out. My oldest thought it was being narrated by AI and my youngest said she was reading it like she was trying to keep a poop in.
The story was good and gave a nice glimpse of the Darklands and gave me some idea as a GM. Will read the authors works in the future. Will avoid any other story with the same narrator.

Great cast and a great production!
Revisado: 07-26-22
I took a gamble on this and gave it a listen and LOVED it! It has a great cast and is produced very well. I am intrigued by the story line and hope more audio dramas in the same world will be made. Highest possible recommendation.

Historia
The year is 2050. The power of magic and the creatures it brings have returned to the earth, and many of the ancient races have re-emerged. Elves, Orks, Mages, and lethal Dragons find a home in a world where mana, technology, and human flesh have melded into deadly urban predators. And the multinational mega-corporations that run the world hoard the only thing of real value - information. For Sam Verner, living in the womb of the Renraku conglomerate was easy, until his sister disappeared and the façade of the corporate reality began to disintegrate.

A blast from the past
Revisado: 07-15-21
I read the novel a few decades ago and it is still great. By far one of the best voice performances by the narrator that I have heard. Actually sounded as if read by a cast. Excited to start Book 2 immediately

Great all around
Revisado: 04-09-21
Great story with exceptional writing. Very little of the story actually deals with Eisenhorn or Ravenor but nonetheless it is great nonetheless. The narrator does a wonderful job of keeping the dialog interesting. I would strongly recommend reading the previous Eisenhorn/Ravenous novels first for clarity.

Fantastic book all the way around
Revisado: 01-25-21
Great book all the way around. Voice actor slip between roles seamlessly. Recommend reading the earlier Dan Abbnett titles before jumping into this one.
