Historia
There’s something out there: A juggernaut of evil bearing down to crush the Republic - unless one lone Jedi, shunned and reviled, can stop it. Revan: Hero, traitor, conqueror, villain, savior. A Jedi who left Coruscant to defeat Mandalorians - and returned a disciple of the dark side, bent on destroying the Republic. The Jedi Council gave Revan his life back, but the price of redemption was high. His memories have been erased. All that’s left are nightmares - and deep, abiding fear.

Earth is locked in a dangerous arms race with Rigel. McGill’s efforts at diplomacy are disastrous. Events spin out of control and interstellar warfare consumes the outer provinces of the Empire. Great fleets are gathered, and troops are hurried aboard transports. Legion Varus is launched toward a secret target world. McGill leads an early strike against Rigel’s defenses, but his efforts are foiled at every turn. Who could be behind these betrayals? Could his own government be plotting his demise?

One of the slowest of the series.
Revisado: 12-17-22
I’m a long time die hard fan of undying mercenaries and this one is good but very slow compared to others. Mostly we see the incompetence and insufferability of Galena Turov through this book. If BV had the goal of making sure everyone hated Turov, he surely succeeded on even the most dedicated lovers of Turov. She is the worst kind of person at every single turn throughout this story and we rarely learn anything important about her. Only little tidbits here and there. Basically Turov sucks and she needs to either get gone from the story, or get her comeuppance in some way. Without the decision being immediately reversed later on. I want to see McGill interact with interesting new characters and actually stand up for himself to Turov. The way she treated McGill in this book was proof that her character has got to go.

When the Earth is invaded by a rival empire, James McGill's legion must defend the Home World. The top brass has complex plans, but none of that matters much to McGill, who chooses his own unique path. Traveling to star systems no human has ever visited, he searches for a technological edge to beat the enemy before it's too late. Along the way he unleashes new terrors, triggering the biggest battles in human history.

Earth’s entire fleet and all her legions are conscripted by the Galactics. Centurion McGill of Legion Varus is among countless troops pressed into service as cannon fodder for the Empire. Not everyone on Earth is happy with the demands of the Galactics. Earth has built up her military for decades, and now she might lose everything in a foreign war no one understands. As the man who has killed more Mogwa than any other human in history, McGill is approached and given a mission. He has a fateful decision to make.

Revisado: 11-27-22
I have slowed down on audiobooks but undying mercs is a series I will never put down. Even if the series goes to book 100. Some things really are meant to last forever. City world is as fun as it is interesting. Some revelations into the politics of the magua and some hints on the old days too, the unification wars. I would love to see a spin off prequel about graves during the unification wars that BV Larson alludes to many times. This universe is one that is worth investing in and expanding on. I wish there were multiple spin offs set in this same universe. And I would love for the main series with McGill to keep going and going.

Pure excellence. Bar none. Joe Abercrombie has proven himself a true master of fantasy and character development, though that was proven first with the blade itself.

Historia
After the Renegade mission by the crew of the starship Flying Dutchman, the UN Expeditionary Force thought Earth was safe for hundreds of years, at least. After there was trouble on the home front and the president had to authorize a nuclear strike on an American city, UNEF decided they did need the Merry Band of Pirates again. So, the Flying Dutchman is sent out on a simple recon mission. But for the pirates, nothing is ever simple, and their mission will become Armageddon.

Overly politically correct
Revisado: 11-07-19
Spoiler warning. Don’t read unless you’ve finished this book.
I’ve been keeping up with this series since Columbus Day released on audible. I really enjoy the book and I love the alien species and hierarchy. what I do not love at all, is the length C.A goes to in order to keep everything politically correct. Joe with Adams?!?!? What?!? Simms was the obvious choice for a romance with joe. All I can think of is the black tribal woman from the Conan the destroyer movie that came out in the 80s, having a puppy love romance with the new flash actor from the new justice league movie. It makes absolutely no sense. And it’s all for the sake of being politically correct and progressive. I hate that. Addams is a tough as nails gunnery sergeant from the marines and joe is an immature 20 something who I can only assume is supposed to be attractive but not overly so. Girls would call him cute but not gush over him. I don’t know, maybe it’s just me but this really throws me off. Especially in the home front audio drama, mid 40s sounding black woman flirting with young, goofy joe. Stupid. It’s probably too late to change this but I seriously hope Addams dies just so joe can end up with someone he’s compatible with.

Can’t get enough of Lord Grimdark!
Revisado: 09-23-19
I have listened to this book twice consecutively, within one week. And now I’m going back to the blade itself again for probably the fifth or sixth time of listening to the first law trilogy, and the third time going through the second trilogy. No book/s has ever given me the sense of nostalgia about the characters and heroes from the previous books like Abercrombie’s books. He’s easily the greatest fantasy writer since GRRM. As much as I love ASOIAF, I wish the first law trilogy was turned into an HBO show on the same scale as GOT. What a work of art that would be. As far as this book goes, it was incredible. I wasn’t expecting to feel that way however. The whole Victorian era setting is not my usual cup of tea. But it did not take away from the story at all here. At the risk of spending too much time on this review. If you are in doubts about getting A Little Hatred, stop doubting it and pick it up. You’ll be glad you did.

Historia
In the 20th century Earth sent probes, transmissions, and welcoming messages to the stars. Unfortunately, someone noticed. The Galactics arrived with their battle fleet in 2052. Rather than being exterminated under a barrage of hell-burners, Earth joined their vast Empire. Swearing allegiance to our distant alien overlords wasn't the only requirement for survival. We also had to have something of value to trade, something that neighboring planets would pay their hard-earned credits to buy. As most of the local worlds were too civilized to have a proper army, the only valuable service Earth could provide came in the form of soldiers....

The Turine army is on the brink of victory against the Geneshans. Sergeant Tyrus and his unit are tasked to steal an artifact from the enemy that some believe has the power to destroy the world. Taking such power from the Geneshans would end the decade long war. Upon their success, Tyrus' unit is among the first wave of soldiers discharged from the army. War has robbed him of time with his wife and children, but now the life he has dreamed of every day for the last 10 years is just a long journey away.

The story and characters are amazing. We just need more of what is in the beginning more often through the books. Less of what was towards the end. (Avoiding spoilers) it's worth the read. And worth the credit.
