A Bob Jones Sermon
Revisado: 07-10-08
Overall enjoyable but I am a born again Christian and understand where all of this was coming from. I don't think many non-Christians would be able to get past all of the mini-sermons within the so-called conversations or thought lives of the characters. I felt as if I was being preached to almost the entire book. Sort of like having to listen to 50 verses of Just As I Am until someone finally goes to the alter just to get it to stop. I did like how it emphasized God's grace and the fact that ALL have sinnned , and that no sin is too great for God's grace and forgiveness.

Historia
It's easy to feel at home in Mitford. In these high, green hills, the air is pure, the village is charming, and the people are generally lovable. Yet Father Tim, the bachelor rector, wants something more. Enter a dog the size of a sofa who moves in and won't go away. Add an attractive neighbor who begins wearing a path through the hedge. Now, stir in a lovable but unloved boy, a mystifying jewel theft, and a secret that's 60 years old.

Narrator is slow
Revisado: 09-11-07
The Mitford books are some of my all time favorite books so I thought I'd introduce my husband to them on one of our many rides from Maryland to Georgia to see his parents. The narrator read so slowly it almost put me to sleep at points. Other than that, the story in the first book is a bit slow too but by the end, you are totally involved in the lives of the characters.

I enjoyed this book very much. It was very entertaining and had a happy ending. A great way to relax and get away from everyday stresses.
