Historia
South Africa - 1976 to 1994. A time of turbulence as the struggle against apartheid reaches its zenith, pushing South Africa to the brink. But for a one small boy in the leafy northern suburbs of Johannesburg...his beloved housekeeper is serving fish fingers for lunch. This is the tale of Hamish Charles Sutherland Fraser - chorister, horse rider, schoolboy actor and in his dreams, first XV rugby star and young ladies’ delight. A boy who loves climbing trees in the spring and a girl named Reggie. An odd child growing up in a conflicted, scary, beautiful society.

Amazing story once again! Great delivery!
Revisado: 09-08-23
Now I have read all three of Hendry’s books and I have never been disappointed! Reggie and Me is a wonderfully told story. The characters thoughts are so real and richly complex. Hendry’s writing is richly descriptive. His use of language is so creative and beautiful! I wish I could see the whole world as Hendry writes. It would make for delightful days! I don’t think I have ever read a more beautifully presented ending! This book left me with a peaceful feeling: through all the ups and downs it is great to be alive.

Historia
Angus and Hugh MacNaughton are brothers. They dislike each other...a lot. They have loathed each other since Hugh bit Angus at a family picnic many years ago. In a last-ditch attempt to forge a brotherly bond between the two, Mr. and Mrs. MacNaughton secure them jobs at an exclusive five-star game lodge. They manage to convince (bribe in the case of Angus) the siblings to work at Sasekile Private Game Lodge for a year.

Amazing details and descriptive language! Laugh out loud funny!
Revisado: 07-13-23
What a great book! What an impressive use of language! The character development and descriptions are so very creative…. It all seems so spot on and realistic, notions one may have in real life yet never be able to communicate as interestingly as Mr. Hendry does! I went right from this book to Return to the Wild and I just could not get enough of Angus and String Bean and all the other great characters with those fascinating South African names! Now what? Need more stories Mr. Hendry please!

Following on from his bestselling novels A Year in the Wild and Back to the Bush, James Hendry returns to the setting of Sasekile Private Game Reserve for another tale that takes the listener behind the scenes with the MacNaughton brothers, Angus and Hugh. It is four and a half years since Angus’s last year in the wild when he was newly appointed to the position of head ranger at Sasekile. Much has happened in the interim.

Wonderful writing! Great characters! So fun to listen to
Revisado: 07-13-23
I completed my first South African safari this year, not because it was something that was on my bucket list, but because friends who live in South Africa insisted I must do. What a great surprise! It was the trip of a lifetime! Upon returning I read A Year in the Wild and had to immediately follow with the Return. Both were great books! Both books kept my real life experience alive! The nuance in both writing is great, Mr. Hendry truely captures the spirit of the land. Laugh out loud funny at times! Also reinforced how I wished I would have paid more attention to the birds on safari! At times, while reading this bookI felt like I was once again in my vehicle with our ranger and tracker just sitting parked watching the elephants or the lions or the giraffes… or driving up an unbelievable steep hill to find the leopards. I hope Mr. Hendry is able to write additional stories Ike these in South Africa!

Historia
This definitive audio collection, read by Stacy Keach, traces the development and maturation of Hemingway's distinct and revolutionary storytelling style - from the plain bald language of his first story to his mastery of seamless prose that contained a spare, eloquent pathos, as well as a sense of expansive solitude. These stories showcase the singular talent of a master, the most important American writer of the 20th century.

A Review of “The Short Stories, Volume 1” by Ernest Hemingway
Revisado: 07-02-21
Hemingway’s descriptive powers are superlative. But, and this is a big butt, his characters are stiff and the dialog is often artificial. What works in describing falls short in people’s conversations.
This collection is disjointed. Stories seem jumbled up. The narrator jumps from a war scene to a story set in the woods in Michigan. Hemingway’s writing can be dense and I fail to understand why the stories are mixed up. Is this how these collections were published?
Hemingway often touches on incest and his fixation on death and killing borders on a sickness. He has a morbid belief that one is compelled to kill noble and beautiful animals.
He is a fine writer, who should have devoted himself to magazines because he grows tedious too quickly.

Historia
Ernest Hemingway said, “All modern American literature comes from one book by Mark Twain called Huckleberry Finn". One hundred years after its author’s death, this classic remains remarkably modern and poignantly relevant. In this new edition, Elijah Wood reads Huck in a youthful voice that may be the closest interpretation to Twain’s original intent. His performance captures the excitement and confusion of adolescence and adventure.

Masterful Narration
- De Michael Balzoa en 03-11-11
Great narration! Very talented Elijah Wood. I wish I could find the same narrator for Tom Sawyer.
Revisado: 11-23-20
The voice of the Narrator really made the book come alive for me. I felt like I was right there with Huck and Jim!
