After Julius Caesar's murder, his mistress Cleopatra, Queen of Egypt, fled to Alexandria where she gave birth to their son. Civil war broke out in Rome, and Mark Antony, Caesar's friend, was given control over the East. Summoned to his headquarters, Cleopatra made her entry at dusk on a scented, candle-lit barge: and so began one of the greatest love stories of all time.

There is clearly a lot of research that has gone into this text. A great voice, with emphasis and emotion which worked well. My only quibbles are the chapters of the audio book weren't synced with the chapters of the book. It also includes a lot of info not related to Antony or Cleopatra, but it was still really interesting.

I bought this as an accompaniment to reading her stories. I thought it might be nice to listen as I read. While it is beautifully read, the actual spoken word differs greatly in the initial stories I read/listened to - Her First Ball, Bliss and A Cup of Tea - to name the three. If your only purpose is sheer enjoyment, this is perfect. If you are studying or need accurate quotes, you'll need to check the actual written copy.
