Historia
This is the way the world ends: with a nanosecond of computer error in a Defense Department laboratory and a million casual contacts that form the links in a chain letter of death. And here is the bleak new world of the day after: a world stripped of its institutions and emptied of 99 percent of its people. A world in which a handful of panicky survivors choose sides - or are chosen.

Good story with unnecessary racism added
Revisado: 05-26-22
I really liked the story. Feels a but eerie listening to it during COVID. But the thing I didn't care for was the unnecessary racism added in the book. It did nothing for the plot. Also the unnecessary descriptions of the black and brown characters.

Overall Not Great
Revisado: 10-18-21
Not sure I'll be able to make it through this one. The main character is insufferable, dramatic and annoying. Makes wild assumptions and seems very stuck up. Maybe the protagonist is so awful because this was written by a man in the female perspective back in the 1890's.
Also I did just finish it and at first the narration wasn't bad but got notably worse to me. Her screaming was annoying and the voices she did for the children were horrendous.

Historia
Lemuel Gulliver, a surgeon and sea captain, journeys to different islands, where he meets some of the strangest creatures ever to appear in literature. His most famous visits are to Lilliput, where he towers over the six-inch, warlike people, and Brobdingnag, where the natives are gigantic, yet cannot understand abstract concepts. Gulliver also travels to the flying island of Laputa, Lagadu, a land of impractical philosophers, and Glubdubdrib, where sorcerers allow him to speak to great historical figures.

Historia
In a tale of ancient evil, Bram Stoker creates a world of lurking horrors and bizarre denizens: a demented mesmerist, hellbent on mentally crushing the girl he loves; a gigantic kite raised to rid the land of an unnatural infestation of birds, and which receives strange commands along its string; and all the while, the great white worm slithers below, seeking its next victim.... Bram Stoker, creator of Dracula, is one of the most enduring and masterful influences on the literature of terror.

Super Racist
Revisado: 07-20-21
I lost a lot of respect for Bram Stocker reading/listening to his stories and encountering all racism and sexism.

Not my Favorite
Revisado: 05-13-21
I was in between books in the Ender's Shadow series (really good by the way) and waiting for a credit. So I decided to listen to this book until I got my credit. I feel like I was shoved into a world I didn't understand. People were using random abilities that weren't explained. It felt like the movie version of a book. Rushed and under explained. I love sci-fi and fantasy and can generally understand all the crazy stuff going on but this was a little too much all at once. I had no connection with any of the characters. If any died I sure didn't care. I don't think I'll ever finish this book.
