Disappointed
Revisado: 07-16-19
I was expecting more from this than just the diaries of UFO hunters. The tag and the Ted talk are very misleading. He doesn't reveal anything of value to the conversation and the ending is bizarre. The book is well written, the work of the ufologists was interesting, and the performance is fine but just not what I was expecting.

Historia
Juliet Beckett believes in destiny. When she moves into Greywethers, a beautiful 16th-century farmhouse, she suspects that more than coincidence has brought her there. The locals are warm and welcoming; especially the eligible squire of Crofton Hall, yet beneath the ordinaries, Julia senses a haunting sadness about her new home. Then she learns of Mariana, a beautiful young woman who lived there 300 years ago. It seems history has been waiting for Julia...

My New Favorite Book Series of all Time
Revisado: 10-10-18
I spent the last couple of weeks absorbed by the All Souls Universe having completed each audio book (including "Times Convert"). This story is so magical and the performance in the three books of the trilogy is amazing. Deborah Harkness weaves a beautiful story jammed packed with historical facts, ancient lore, and fabulous new mythologies. If you enjoy a powerful love story or amazingly crafted fantasy this book is for you. The story is breathtaking.

Historia
Austen wrote, 'I am going to take a heroine whom no-one but myself will much like' and thus introduces the handsome, clever, rich - and flawed, Emma Woodhouse. Emma is perfectly content with her life and sees no need for either love or marriage; nothing however delights her more than matchmaking her fellow residents of Highbury. But when she ignores the warnings of her good friend Mr. Knightley and attempts to arrange a suitable match for her protegee Harriet Smith, her carefully laid plans soon unravel and have consequences that she never expected.

More of a Radio Drama than an audiobook
Revisado: 09-11-18
This is an excellently produced production on the part of Audible. The performers do a great job with their roles. I think it needs to be pointed out though that this is more like a radio/podcast drama than a book reading. If you consider it in that frame of mind it might make the sound effects easier to tolerate. They also add atmosphere and make it more convincing that they are actually in the homes or environment of the story. My only complaint is that music between chapters is a bit much.

The Kennedy wives saw history up close - and made history in some cases. They knew wealth and privilege, but we are bonded to them by losses that are our losses, too. The Kennedy women - fierce, intelligent, and very private - belong to us. Not because of their glamour but because of their grief and misfortunes. The Kennedy Wives takes an unflinching look at the women who married into the Kennedy family and their distinct roles.

Any additional comments?
I as I was listening to this book on the section regarding Ethel I started to think that some of what I was hearing sounded very familiar. I realized later it was because a lot of it was lifted from the 2012 documentary done by Rory Kennedy. I am wondering now how much is lifted from other sources.

Historia
With an empty nest and divorce in hand, Rona decides it's time to explore the fantasies that nourished her through a long, tedious marriage to a man whose idea of outrageous sex was leaving the lights on. At the top of her fantasy list is touring Dark Haven, the BDSM club, but she isn't prepared for the effect of a powerful Dom. When Master Simon takes control and introduces her to toys and sensations she's never felt before, she realizes he could fulfil every fantasy on her list all by himself.

Great Story, Needed a better Male Narrator
Revisado: 08-23-16
Would you try another book from Cherise Sinclair and/or Wen Ross and Kai Kennicott ?
I would definitely do another Cherise Sinclair book and something by Kai Kennicott. Had issues with Wen Ross' performance however. Was surprised it went past the producer of this audiobook. His performance lacked any enthusiasm or was very bland. He also sounded nothing like I imagined Simon to sound from reading his story originally. Of course that's my personal thing.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I actually developed a new appreciation for Rona after reading this book. She seems very independent and compassionate.
Did Wen Ross and Kai Kennicott do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?
Kai Kennicott did a great job differentiating the characters. I had no problem telling the difference based on her using her different accents and inflections. She was great.
Wen Ross needs some work. I had no idea which man was speaking half the time because I couldn't tell the difference.
Was Simon Says: Mine worth the listening time?
Yes, mostly because it's a great story.
Any additional comments?
Chapter breaks moved too fast. Needs to be more of a pause.

Historia
Perfect for fans of Mercedes Lackey's 500 Kingdoms series! Beast Charming tells the story of Beauty, who works as a temp at an agency run by a high-tempered dragon. To avoid running into her conniving and desperately-craving-for-nobility father - conveniently named Noble - she takes on a peculiar job that will force her to converse with James, who got cursed by an ex-girlfriend and is now spending his days as, well, a beast.

Great story, So so production
Revisado: 03-08-16
Where does Beast Charming rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
It doesn't rank very high simply because the production of this audiobook needs work.
What other book might you compare Beast Charming to and why?
I can't really compare it to another because I don't think I've read one like it.
Have you listened to any of Morgan Ganahl’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I haven't listened to her before.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes, mostly because of the story
Any additional comments?
The story here is the real winner. Ms. Wardell wrote a funny and engaging story. The production, however, is lacking. There are misspoken words that should have been edited out. The actual editing that's been done is very rough. The performance abruptly changes in the middle of a scene. While most of the time Ms. Ganahl's performance is right on there are times when she is just flat.
Despite this I would read more of Ms. Wardell's work.

Historia
In The Invisible History of the Human Race, Christine Kenneally draws on cutting-edge research to reveal how both historical artifacts and DNA tell us where we come from and where we may be going. While some books explore our genetic inheritance and some popular television shows celebrate ancestry, this is the first book to explore how everything from DNA to emotions to names and the stories that form our lives are all part of our human legacy.

For Ryan Swan, who'd learned never to give her trust, master illusionist Pierce Atkins was the last man to whom she should give her heart. Especially since he was planning a death-defying stunt he might not escape from. But in Pierce's enthralling presence, all Ryan's defenses seemed to vanish...like magic.

Good story but...
Revisado: 12-19-12
What made the experience of listening to This Magic Moment the most enjoyable?
That it was not abridged. You really need the full story to get the full effect.
What did you like best about this story?
Despite the fact it's an old story from the 80s you really didn't feel that so much.
What aspect of Ashley Adlon’s performance would you have changed?
This performance is ok but not the greatest. Her rendition of the male voices is irritating. She mispronounces several words. Circe is pronounced Sir-see not Cerk for example. .
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes
Any additional comments?
A little work on the performance and I would give it the extra stars.
