Historia
Romance can be a little complicated when you get sucked into a wormhole. Just ask high school English teacher June Flint. One little solar flare happens and suddenly you find yourself 85 years in the future. Eighty-five years from your dream job. Your ailing mother whose only companion in this world is you. Your favorite stuffed-crust pizza from DeLucia’s on Sunday nights. But when June’s cell phone inexplicably picks up a signal, she’s able to call back to the present—more specifically, four weeks before she accidentally time traveled.

Cambridge professor Emily Wilde is good at many things: She is the foremost expert on the study of faeries. She is a genius scholar and a meticulous researcher who is writing the world’s first encyclopaedia of faerie lore. But Emily Wilde is not good at people. She could never make small talk at a party—or even get invited to one. And she prefers the company of her books, her dog, Shadow, and the Fair Folk to other people. So when she arrives in the hardscrabble village of Hrafnsvik, Emily has no intention of befriending the gruff townsfolk.

Loved It
Revisado: 05-22-24
This story was so fun. It was the perfect balance of historical and fantasy with sprinkled in bits of romance. I loved the characters too. All had distinct personalities and Emily was refreshingly socially awkward with some unexpected flaws. I loved how the plot wasn't obvious, but there was clear direction and I was happy just to go along and see what happened.

A Fun and Creative Journey
Revisado: 05-16-24
This book was so creative. I loved the world and magic system. There was a fairly large cast of characters, but each felt unique so I never got them confused. The tone of the story was lighthearted and fun which made the more serious parts easier to go through. There was a bit more gore than I expected for middle grade, but I still enjoyed the story. The plot was full of adventure and I felt like I was along for the journey with the characters.
The narrator did a great job with the different characters' voices, but she annoyed me after a while. It felt like she was soul hopping, adding too much campfire-ghost-story drama to the narrative and adding the nearest character's emotions to the narrative instead of staying in the POV character's lense.
Overall, I really enjoyed this audiobook and look forward to the next in the series!

This Psych 312 assignment just might send me off the deep end. Determining whether love at first sight really exists with Robbie Moravian as my project partner of all people? He’s the sappiest man alive, so upbeat I could scream, and clearly rooting for happy endings at every turn. How does he not learn from experience considering our own meet-cute last semester almost got us expelled? But we both need to pass this course to graduate. So we’re interviewing five random couples about their meet-cutes and relationships and spending all this time together. Which is certainly...educational.

It was Great
Revisado: 04-20-24
This was like an essay on the study of love. But it was also a really cute story. The performances were entertaining and the sound effects were well done. A lot could have not gone right, but the execution in writing and sound was perfect.

Paint your toes. Pick up the wrong coffee and bagel order. Drive from Brooklyn to Jersey in traffic so slow you want to tear your hair out. It’s amazing all the useless things I can accomplish while on hold for three hours with customer service. Three hours when I should be getting the Date-in-a-Box website ready to launch at the big business expo in a few days. Except my shiny new website is glitching, and my inner rage-monster is ready to scorch some earth...when he finally picks up. Not the robot voice I expected but a real live human named Kal.

Excellent Story
Revisado: 04-15-24
I loved this story. If suspense could be cozy, it would be in this book. It was fun and clean, but still exciting. And there were a lot of good themes and messages woven in tastefully. The reveals were great too. I can't say enough good things about it.

Book 4 has always been a favorite of mine. Things really take a turn and more of Jesse's backstory comes to light. And the gesture of love is so adorable. I'm excited to read book 5...again.

Really Fun Story
Revisado: 03-19-24
I loved this book. It was funny and all of the parts regarding a romance with a morally tainted character were done so well, in my opinion, to make it believable. Even the "miscommunication" (which I normally dislike) was resolved well and didn't last too long. I was invested all the way to the end. And the kiss scene was great in so many ways—you just have to read it to know what I mean. The only thing keeping this from being 5 stars for me was the very end. I just imagined the villain would have handled it a little differently. It was underwhelming and I thought he was a little more cunning and had a bit more dignity than that (although dignity is probably not the right word). It left the story feeling a little incomplete, although they did technically find out what they were supposed to. I would have gone onto the second book regardless. The cliffhanger thing probably could have been an exciting way to start book 2. But Evie was awesome in the end and her journey was so satisfying! I look forward to book 2.

It took me a little bit to get into this story. I'm not sure why because it wasn't boring. But halfway through, it got really good and I couldn't absorb it fast enough. The ending was perfect!
