A Triumph of History over Modern Revisionism
Revisado: 10-16-19
Remarkably well written and well read, this book peirces a clear and straight line through the hopelessly tangled morase of British culture, religion, conquest, statesmanship, vitriolic antisemitism, devout zionism, greed, and hope on the way to a turbulant determination to reedtablish in "the Holy Land" a cradle for the nascent idea of Isreal; first ,as a home for dispersed Jews, and eventually, possibly, as a self-determined Jewish state.

Historia
The Times has announced, much to Bertie's astonishment, the news of his engagement to the beautiful Bobbie Wickham. But worse is to come....Uncle Tom's antique silver cow-creamer has gone missing; Kipper Herring has libelled his and Bertie's former headmaster; leading British psychiatrist Sir Roderick Glossop is posing as a butler; and Aunt Dahlia's masterly French chef, Anatole, is once again becoming a pawn in a terrible power struggle.

Jeeves & Cecil in the Offing
Revisado: 05-09-19
Jeeves and narrator Jonathan Cecil are both sorely missed throughout the perfomance of this short novel. Unlike other of Bertie's bungles, the situation is simple enough that even he appears to have it well in hand. Jeeves gets a mere nod as a plot device in his cameo appearance, leaving one to wonder if his great mind might not have been put to better use sorting out the sudden onset of his young master's inconsistant stutter. Ah, well, perhaps something trully terrifying in his encounters, past and present, with his former school master give rise to this testing attribute. We will never know...no matter how many times we listen this book.

Peters Boldly Pierces the Abbey's Darkest Corners
Revisado: 01-30-19
Peters steps into deep waters with a plot that delves fearlessly into the darkest corners of human and Catholic narrative past and present, adept with both the weight of her subject and the turns of her story. Modern readers will clasp close the faithful rendering of devoted service and blanch to hear so unflinchingly a personification of blackest sin left to the hand God.
