Not Like the Movie
Revisado: 01-03-23
The book is a far more complex story than the one the movie portrayed. The characters also are different to the extent that the movie is loosely based on this very interesting story

Historia
It was a time of legend, as the last shadows of the mighty Roman conqueror faded from the captured Isle of Britain. Meanwhile, across a vast sea, bloody war shattered a peace that had flourished for 2,000 years in the doomed kingdom of Atlantis. This is the remarkable adventure of Charis, the courageous princess from Atlantis who escapes the terrible devastation of her land, and of the fabled seer and druid prince Taliesin, singer at the dawn of the age. It is a story of an incomparable love that joins two astonishing worlds....

How did a great beginning lead to such a CRAP end
Revisado: 05-13-22
The story was great. Game of Thrones without the gratuitous violence etc. I even forgave the MASSIVE historical inaccuracies but to take the Merlin and make him a Bible basher...? No thanks.

Historia
A 30-something painter in Tokyo is abandoned by his wife and finds himself holed up in the mountain home of a famous artist. When he discovers a strange painting in the attic, he unintentionally opens a circle of mysterious circumstances. To close it, he must complete a journey that involves a ringing bell, a two-foot-high physical manifestation of an Idea, a dapper businessman who lives across the valley, a precocious 13-year-old girl, a Nazi assassination attempt during World War II in Vienna, a pit in the woods behind the artist’s home and an underworld haunted by Double Metaphors.

A necessarily difficult read.
Revisado: 03-16-22
This book is difficult because it flows in an abstract manner and the story is revealed in layers. I am sure that it will continue to reveal itself for years to come. Be that as it may, it is a beautiful, necessary read and I highly recommend it to those who read to be fulfilled.

Don't bother
Revisado: 12-23-21
Not so much a story telling by two acclaimed actors of their Highland Adventures for the TV series of the same name as it is a viable alternative to general anesthetic. I've heard high school orals performed with more authentic characterisation which is ironic as these two actors are (supposedly) reading as themselves. Not as much history as I would have liked and I couldn't force myself to finish.

Historia
Peter Grant is facing fatherhood and an uncertain future with equal amounts of panic and enthusiasm. Rather than sit around, he takes a job with émigré Silicon Valley tech genius Terrence Skinner's brand-new London start-up - the Serious Cybernetics Company. Drawn into the orbit of Old Street's famous 'silicon roundabout', Peter must learn how to blend in with people who are both civilians and geekier than he is. Compared to his last job, Peter thinks it should be a doddle. But magic is not finished with Mama Grant's favourite son.

Historia
Switters is a contradiction for all seasons: an anarchist who works for the government, a pacifist who carries a gun, a vegetarian who sops up ham gravy, a cyberwhiz who hates computers, a robust bon vivant who can be as squeamish as any fop, a man who, though obsessed with the preservation of innocence, is aching to deflower his high-school-age stepsister (only to become equally enamored of a nun ten years his senior). Yet there is nothing remotely wishy-washy about Switters. He doesn't merely pack a pistol. He is a pistol.

Truth as Tom Robbins tells it
Revisado: 08-22-19
I have never met a character from the Robbins' nest that I didn't fall in love with in the first few lines and to whom I would be devoted until after the last words had settled their greasy lines into my head. Switters will test your morals, virtues and vices and you'll be grateful for it.

The most difficult book you have to read
Revisado: 08-02-19
This story is the literary mirror that you will struggle to look into. It's beautifully written; poetic at times and at times, pure story-telling in the ancient ways that stories were told. Full of myth-in-the-making it tells of the anti-heros that in time will become the seeds of gods. It will be very difficult to read at times because the truth hurts, but you will feel lighter, wiser and More when you are done.

If you wished for another Wuthering Heights
Revisado: 06-26-19
The Binding transports you to the marshes of Yorkshire and binds you to the characters as if you were written into the story along with them. It has the spacious quality of a Max Richter piece of music and the melancholy of a modern Gothic masterpiece.

Historia
Late Victorian London. When James Miller, the most respectable of Scottish businessmen, is pulled, dead, from the Thames, his daughter is drawn into an investigation which reveals a whole world of secrets and corruption. Alongside local detective Culley, Catriona’s search for her father’s killer leads all the way to the tragic truth behind the ghostly legend of The Darkwater Bride and the power of her deadly kiss. The Darkwater Bride combines the genres of the Victorian mystery thriller with the equally classic Victorian mode of the ghostly tale.

An entertaining Gothic Murder mystery
Revisado: 04-15-19
Twas more than just a dark and stormy night... The Dark water Bride is an entertaining piece of audio story telling in the Gothic tradition that illuminates the dark underbelly of Victorian London as it draws the curtain on man's feeblest fantasies.
