Fascinating!
Revisado: 01-31-25
I remember watching Sonny and Cher as a kid and have enjoyed watching her as an actor. I didn’t really know anything about her upbringing or early life, so it was fascinating to hear her life story so far. I also really enjoyed listening to her narration, but the other narrator did a great job as well. Highly recommended if you are a fan of her or if you’re just curious about her life. I’m looking forward to the next book!

Historia
There Is No Wall is ultrarunner Allie Bailey's brutally honest and sometimes shocking account of alcoholism, depression and severe mental breakdowns which almost cost her her life. Told with disarming vulnerability, heartbreaking depth of feeling and dark humour, this isn't a story about how running saved her–she was already running and at the height of her struggles sometimes even winning 100-mile-plus races.

I wanted to listen but..
Revisado: 04-06-24
I really wanted to listen but unfortunately the narration didn’t work for me, she speaks very quickly and I found myself missing a lot of the story. I may check out the book and read it instead.

Historia
In Carrying the Fire, Michael Collins conveys, in a very personal way, the drama, beauty, and humor of the adventure of reaching the moon. He also traces his development from his first flight experiences in the air force, through his days as a test pilot, to his Apollo 11 spacewalk, presenting an evocative description of the joys of flight as well as a new perspective on time, light, and movement from someone who has seen the fragile Earth from the other side of the moon.

Well written and perfect narration
Revisado: 04-06-24
I found this book to be one of the better accounts of the space program and Apollo and Gemini missions. The narrator was easy to understand and very relaxing to listen to.

Historia
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Historia
Jennette McCurdy was six years old when she had her first acting audition. Her mother’s dream was for her only daughter to become a star, and Jennette would do anything to make her mother happy. So she went along with what Mom called “calorie restriction." She endured extensive at-home makeovers while Mom chided, “Your eyelashes are invisible, okay? You think Dakota Fanning doesn’t tint hers?” She was even showered by Mom until age sixteen while sharing her diaries, email, and all her income. In I’m Glad My Mom Died, Jennette recounts all this in unflinching detail.

Interesting story, had trouble with the narration
Revisado: 09-21-22
I really enjoyed her story, it was well written. I never watched the shows she was on, but found the story about her relationship with her mom and her struggles with her eating disorder really interesting. I’m glad she is doing well now.
I had some trouble with the narration. I felt she talked too quickly at times and her tone was mostly very matter of fact.
