Historia
I rejected my fated mate, and didn’t regret it for a second. Until now. Shipped off to Ravenscroft University, a graduate school for the supernatural elite, I have a lot to live up to. As heir to America’s most powerful pack, I was locked away. Not to be protected, but because I was born broken. A disappointment. A wolf who couldn’t shift. This is supposed to be my fresh start, but my past won’t leave me alone. Not when he’s here.

Hrm...Pacing. Narrator's EXCELLENT though!
Revisado: 12-26-22
While I LOVE the narrator's and the duet style of this book (5 ⭐️), I felt like the story and its pacing were a bit too fast for me.
The story itself is picking up and will alter with the second installment, but I just couldn't fully immerse myself with the book and the insta love of it. Felt too rushed. Right now, the Priest and Wolf are on my top list for the angst, longing, and the little history we get from them that will make intimate scenes more enjoyable (for me personally) once that rolls around.
The secrecy with her back story I can understand that it will be a big reveal to us readers/listeners. Something was missing. Perhaps the many scene jumps? Maybe I started listening to it too early in the morning? The lack of delving into each of the main characters' back story before insta-lovedom? I don't know. I feel like this book could've had a lot more to it. Just because it's a sexy, smexy PNR doesn't mean that it can't have a little bit more substance.
I do like that, although saucy and steamy, the sex scenes that didn't fade were meaningful to the story. I will likely continue to see if I adjust better since the full series is on here, which is tempting, to see where the plot takes us.
Overall, it was a decent book 3.5. The listen itself with the full cast was excellent. They did THAT!

After three years on the run, I’m back in a Resistance camp, chained to a chair as the resident monster. Everything I ran from, all of the villains of my past, they’re all here to take another bite out of me. But this time, I’m not alone. With my Bonds desperately trying to reach me and new friendships I never expected, I start to believe that I won't become the weapon they want me to be. Maybe I’ll be a monster of my own creation. When loyalties are questioned and Bonds are tested, everything I thought I knew gets turned upside down. Who are my friends, and who are my enemies?

Ok wow
Revisado: 12-25-22
Yikes, that ending! I was sure I knew who it was, but then I was shocked through and through at who it really was...Dang it!
While I liked that there was a male narrator, I wasn't too fond of his voice. Maybe the ever so slight lisp? Maybe that there was no differentiation between the male characters when we were in their POV? Atlas, Nox, and the lot all sounded the same. Kassi did a better job in that regard.
I'm happy that this didn't end the same way the first 2 books ended, that was getting old. I do like the introduction to her bond. The story is a bit unique with that and I like it. I already purchased the next book, but seeing as the other installments are not yet on Audible, I think I'll hold off listening to it for now... Maybe.

After the death of my mother and her Bonded, I was relieved to find my own Bonds. I was sure everything would be okay if I had them. It wasn’t. The fate of our people is in my hands, and I know we’re better off if I’m alone. After five years on the run, I’m caught and dragged back to face the men I ran away from. I thought I was doing the right thing. Now, I’m not so sure.

Surprisingly Good!
Revisado: 12-20-22
I've seen this book in my suggested lists and when searching for other books of this genre. I finally decided to download it and was pleasantly surprised. I do wish there were more details given that are typical. Like, I'm not really sure what the men each look like, eye color that sort of thing. She wasn't very descriptive on their appearances. Also, there was a moment when she was wearing a dress, but there wasn't a true explanation on the cut of the dress, style, etc. So little things like that left me wanting.
Otherwise, this was a binge read as I stayed up until 5:50 in the morning, so.... it was very much so good enough, lol. Kox is a "insert choice word". Don't like him. At. All. Gabe is a bit spineless. I love Atlas and Griphon. North... domineering, but I'm still in the fence on where to place him, but he's more in the Atlasand Griphon realm.
Narration was good. She was able to give the men distinctive voices, which I Really like!

When I answered an ad for a caretaker at Saint Mark’s Sanctuary, I thought I’d be dusting chandeliers and polishing floors. I didn’t expect to be tricked into a curse, going into debt to a monster, and being forced to take a self-paced “let’s learn magic” course so I can fix a 2,000-year-old problem. And that monster? Not your ordinary, everyday beast. He has hooves, and horns, and fur on his legs. But you know where he doesn’t have fur? Yeah. There. Which is fine. Except he doesn’t wear pants.

EOBS...Nice
Revisado: 12-19-22
Well... I must say this is my first time listening to KC Cross, aka JA Huss. I downloaded this book based on one of my favorite reviewers on here, Carolyn🔹️🔹️🔹️🔹️.
My initial thoughts of this book once the credits rolled was... "Meh, it was alright." I wasn't so amped to download book 2, although there are some interesting plot points I would want to check out, especially with Tark. But I have other books I've downloaded, and those pique my interest more to start listening to.
However, the EOBS... lolol. I remember reading another review with EOBS in it and thinking, "What the heck is that?" So I Googled and found nothing relating to this. Until I got to it at the end...aka End Of Book Shit. As someone new to JA Huss, I was unfamiliar with this term and what it means. I think listening to the author and getting her thoughts turned the book into something else for me. She bespelled me! lol. While I still will not download and read book 2 now, it makes the other books I downloaded from this author more enticing for me to read.
Overall, it was 3.5 stars for me, almost hitting 4. Not really into Saytr/centaur creatures and the like and the romance when it happened didn't quite fit for me, but it was a fun book. If you want a fun and lighthearted listen, then this is the book for you.

When a fellow US Marshal asks Anita Blake to fly to a tiny community in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula on an emergency consult, she knows time is running short. When she arrives, there is plenty of proof that a young wereleopard killed his uncle in the most gruesome and bloody way possible. As the mounting evidence points to him, a warrant of execution is already under way. But something seems off about the murder, and Anita has been asked for her expert opinion on the crime scene.

Back To Basics...Sort of
Revisado: 12-18-22
This was sort of a return to the earlier novels. No sex. This is my second time listening to the Anita Blake series, and I must say that the reviews colored my second listening. I didn't mind the sex scenes so much as the lengthy descriptions to just "get to it already and get it done" so we can get along with the story. Regardless, I'm invested and still love the series. To each his/her own!
However, in Sucker Punch, it was more of a who done it tale. No sex at all, which I didn't mind. I was a bit unfulfilled or unsatisfied with the ending, but in real life, not everything is synched with a pretty bow either. Sad that. Heavy mentions on therapy and some about her accepting her sexuality.
More scenes with Olaf, which was interesting as EVER! I'm very intrigued to see where this all leads to and to see what happens with Edward. I have yet to read Rafael, so I don't know if anything is mentioned there. I'm waiting for Smolder to be released in March 2023 to start that, so hopefully, there will be more details on these two scenarios then.
Kimberly Alexis is just phenomenal. It is hard to start another book without her magnificent narration and character inflections. Maybe I'll find some Robert Petkoff to ease the way, lol.

I thought things couldn't get worse. I was wrong. I found out what I really wanted and was forced to give him up. Just as I found out who I really am, I was presented to the elusive Horde King as a gift. This was the mystical being I was hidden from for more than 20 years. Although Ryder promised to save me, I couldn't let him get near this creature, so I willingly (sort of) signed myself over to be his new plaything.

The Sex
Revisado: 10-02-22
Goodness oh My! Tons of sex scenes that lasted 30 minutes. Some were fade outs, but many were full on, full throttle. Unfortunately, while I'm am erotica fan besotted with an actual storyline, I was almost tempted (ME) to fast Forward through the Sex scenes...unheard of! And yet, there it is. I think it was getting bored of Sarah's voice - while a good narrator, I am over her for now. The change to Craig with book 2 kind of ruined it for me as well. Bring back the male narrator from book 1 please and thank you! While I'm still interested in seeing where the storyline goes, I know that not all of the books are on Audible which is a downfall and probably added to me being withdrawn somewhat.
Also, the actual action scenes were so drawn out with talk and not enough action that when the action happened it took 2 minutes and it was over. I like erotica because sex happens and I LOVE the details, but I also like sci-fi and fantasy and action. All of these components make the book feel real. I guess that this series is missing that perfect balance for me. Still a decent listen, but it's missing that element for me.

Not bad.
Revisado: 09-23-22
The pacing was decent. I would've liked to experience more chemistry between the H&H. The story wasn't bad, but I felt that it was missing something. Still enjoyable. Also, since I'm suffering from a book hangover of The Last Hour of Gann (hence the reptilian Hero), I guess my whole head wasn't in it. However, despite that, I do like more intense romances. It doesn't have to be graphic, but I'll admit that I like those best. Others don't. Give me a sexually graphic or high intense chemistry book (like IAD, Anita Blake, Merry Gentry, Blood and Ash, even The Cruel Prince or, hell, what about Lords of the Underworld and I'm in). While this has one graphic love scene, it wasn't overly done so those not really looking for that in a story will probably be OK. But removing that, the storyline/plot and eventual understanding of who his "enemy" was to me was still not as shattering to make this book uppermost in my mind. I think there were two love scenes in total with the 1st being kind of detailed.
I liked Maxine's delivery. She could do male voices well. Hoeven, I'm off to start the IAD series again with one of my favorite narrators Robert Petkoff.

It should have been simple. Go to the ball, meet the prince, and secure his patronage for my favorite charity. But beneath the mask, the brooding beast of a man was not at all who I expected. He was dark and intense and eerily quiet. When I left, I could still feel the ghost of his touch branded into my skin. He haunted my dreams, but I never expected to see him again. Trigger Warnings
Revisado: 04-11-22
I liked the story. Although I have to admit I hit the fast forward button a few times through some of the more hard to listen to scenes. Those scenes were mostly the ones with her psychotic sister Lavinia.
While this is a love story, some heavy hitting real life issues are present. I didn't much care for the accents portrayed by the narrator's (Norwegian and French), but I got used to it. Overall a good quick read, but steer clear if drugging, kidnapping, suicide, and torture are too much on the outer limits for you.
