Historia
A call for help from a former colleague leads Maine game warden investigator Mike Bowditch and his girlfriend Stacey Stevens on a sea kayaking trip to a research station far off the coast. Stacey spent summers interning on the island, a sanctuary for endangered seabirds, and they are shocked by the atmosphere of tension they encounter when they come ashore. The biologists are being threatened and stalked by a mysterious boatman who they suspect is trespassing on the refuge late at night.

This series gets better with each book!
Revisado: 07-11-22
I have been a fan of this series from book 1 and enjoy the development of each of the characters intertwined with the latest who done it. Doiron paints a brilliant picture of each scene, from the breathtaking beauty of main to the emerald eyes of Stacy, you can’t help but travel each characters’ path as the story progresses. I also appreciate that he is able to keep each book unique both in location and plot and does so without resorting to crimes ripped from recent headlines. Hatchet Island provided all of what I enjoy about this series - vivid depiction of the islands interspersed with natural and local history of the area. The plot was equally fresh and adding Stacy to the mix certainly made Mike’s latest adventure even more interesting. Of course, Henry Leyva will always personify Mike and all the characters in these books - he does a remarkable job transitioning from one person to the next without missing a beat! I love listening to him!

Great thriller with interesting twists
Revisado: 09-12-18
I am a fan of Karin Slaughter and so far this has to be one of her best books. The plot is a bit slow to develop but she gives the reader just enough to keep you hooked. Of course there are parts that I found unbelievable (like the LPS act providing a basis for cultish activities - hard to accept as someone familiar with the act) but those instances did not distract from the story or its wonderfully crafted characters.

Historia
Born to a prominent Chicago judge and his stifled socialite wife, Mia Dennett moves against the grain as a young inner-city art teacher. One night, Mia enters a bar to meet her on-again, off-again boyfriend. But when he doesn't show, she unwisely leaves with an enigmatic stranger. With his smooth moves and modest wit, Colin Thatcher seems at first like a safe one-night stand. But following Colin home will turn out to be the worst mistake of Mia's life.

Much Better Than Expected
Revisado: 12-07-17
I usually do not like audio books with multiple readers but this one actually worked. I enjoyed the way the author presented each character’s story with the reader providing life to each. The story seems predictable but is well developed and the twists are somewhat unexpected. I enjoyed the story and recommended it.

Historia
Daniel Graham MacCormick - Mac for short - seems to have a pretty good life. At age 35 he's living in Key West, owner of a 42-foot charter fishing boat, The Maine. Mac served five years in the army as an infantry officer, with two tours in Afghanistan. He returned with the Silver Star, two Purple Hearts, scars that don't tan, and a boat with a big bank loan. Entertaining with great characters
Revisado: 11-02-17
I love Nelson DeMille’s books and this one did not disappoint. The characters were well developed, the story line timely and the descriptions of Cuba vivid. While the ending was somewhat predictable, there was enough suspense and surprise to keep my attention.

Historia
Atlanta, 1974: It's Kate Murphy's first day on the job, and the Atlanta Police Department is seething after the murder of an officer. Before the day has barely begun, she already suspects she's not cut out to be a cop. Her male uniform is too big, she can't handle a gun, and she's rapidly learning that the APD is hardly a place that welcomes women. Worse still, in the ensuing manhunt she'll be partnered with Maggie Lawson, a cop with her own ax to grind.

Slow start but overall great listen
Revisado: 04-26-17
The only complaint I have is the depiction of law enforcement during the time period of the story. Yes, things were bad, but the over the top bigotry proved distracting at times. The main characters were well developed and the plot moved quickly after a slow start. Loved the reader - she brought life to each of the characters. A good listen.

Gripping!
Revisado: 09-06-16
A gripping story which take many twists and turns and keeps you guessing until the end. The author vividly paints the story and by doing so, brings you into the lives of the characters and their plight. Very well written and performed. The last two hours I listened to in bed as I had to discover the ending.

Historia
On an unseasonably hot October morning, Bowditch is called to the scene of a bizarre crime: the corpses of seven moose have been found senselessly butchered on the estate of Elizabeth Morse, a wealthy animal rights activist who is buying up huge parcels of timberland to create a new national park. What at first seems like mindless slaughter—retribution by locals for the job losses Morse's plan is already causing in the region—becomes far more sinister when a shocking murder is discovered.

Series Only Gets Better
Revisado: 05-27-16
This is the best book in the series so far (I am listening to them in order). This story had more depth than the others and the character development exceeded my expectation based on the writer's previous books. The main character is further developed, showing a depth and maturity not seen in the prior books.Although the end was predicable, the route included twists, turns and detours not expected.

Set in the wilds of Maine, this is an explosive tale of an estranged son thrust into the hunt for a murderous fugitive - his own father. Slow at first but it picks up
Revisado: 02-23-16
An interesting story that was well crafted. The main character is likable and complex to the point that it isn't annoying but makes for an interesting story. I enjoyed the performance (I did not take any issue with the accents). Bought it because it was on sale and glad I did. Will certainly listen to other books in this series.
