Historia
After the destruction of her entire Talon gang, eighteen-year-old Shin Lina—the Reaper of Sunpo—is forced to become a living, breathing weapon for the kingdom’s most-feared crime lord. All that keeps her from turning on her ruthless master is the life of her beloved little sister hanging in the balance. But the order to steal a priceless tapestry from a Dokkaebi temple incites not only the wrath of a legendary immortal, but the beginning of an unwinnable game. Lina finds herself in the dreamlike realm of the Dokkaebi, her fate in the hands of its cruel and captivating emperor.

Too drawn out
Revisado: 05-02-25
This book is not really a bad book, it’s just that the pacing is terrible. I’d say 3/4 of the book was just slow and hard to keep plodding through. But the story was intriguing enough to make you want to know what happens. The narrator isn’t too bad, it’s great she knows how to pronounce the Korean words properly so it sounds authentic, but she read it so slowly that I had to listen to it at 1.5x the normal speed. Overall it was good enough I’m starting book 2.

Historia
In The Shoe Bird, Jim Dale brings to life a flock of unforgettable bird characters: Arturo the parrot, Gloria the goose, Minerva the owl, and even the extinct Dodo! This is Eudora Welty's fantastical story of how some feathered friends made a fateful switch from flying to wearing shoes, little knowing that they would soon become the prey of Freddy the Cat!

Wonderful Story. Don’t use headphones.

It’s a beautiful story. And of course Jim Dale is always excellent. The only complaint I would say if it is not designed to be listened to with headphones! The beautiful singing of the young ladies choir is very nice but it’s hard on the ears through headphones.
