The Senator’s Widow is a fantastic story that follows Miranda and Sarah as they fight to stay alive and one step ahead of the forces that are trying to keep them quiet. Sarah is a bodyguard hired by Miranda for protection. While Miranda’s husband is set to make political headlines, she uncovers information that puts her life at risk. Protecting the supposed ultra conservative wife of an ultra conservative Senator has to be just a job for Sarah but dang it if Miranda isn’t gorgeous and one of the best of hours she’s ever spent with someone. Between the politics and the stereotypes lies a truth that both women seek to find. I didn’t particularly like Miranda but she grew on me as the story went along and she began to grow. Sarah seeks the truth behind what has Miranda running so scared and in danger of losing her life. Miranda seeks the truth of who she is and the strength within her to lift herself up, be who she is, and take what she truly wants. Abby Craden’s performance is masterful once again. Being from KY, the accent was terrific for Sarah throughout. The voices, the pace, the inflection, the entire performance package adds a cherry on top of this story with a great political thriller plot, character growth, and an authentic representation of hard working coal country.

I have loved each book in this series and with Abby Craden bringing them to life, that just pushes them over the top. Cait must grapple with many new changes in her life. A kind of ex re-enters, her Mother is battling the after effects of the Black Gate opening, she’s become a Mom to Katie, and there are three vampires in her life she’s trying to figure out how to live, and maybe love, with. Book 2 continues to lay out a new world where magic has been released, vampire hunters are active, and hidden agendas hide in the shadows. Abby Craden, as always, does an outstanding job with narration. Her performance is flawless and Black Mirror continues laying the groundwork, background, and suspense with what’s to come for Cait, her family, and the PIU.

I’ve loved reading Cait’s story but listening to it with Abby Craden bringing the characters to life outside of my head brings much more to it. Abby, as always, does a fantastic job with narration providing each character a voice that fits perfectly.

The story is terrific. Vampires, werewolves, and a detective at the center of so much more than she ever dreamed. Cait is a wonderful character. She has been through so much and while she has avoided mentally processing some of it, she doesn’t let it keep her away from helping her city. When faced with a bizarre murder that ends up being a string of them, she comes face to face with Marcella. The beautiful vampire sets her mind on having Cait but as events unfold there is more history to the story than Cait knows.

Take this journey with Cait through the streets and underground of Boston to discover what lies in wait and who is on Cait’s side.
Can’t wait for book 2, Black Mirror, on audio!

I absolutely love Talia and Faye’s story. Unlike many other stories that have tons of angst, these two actually so communicate better than most. While there are still trusts to develop, some of the big things that typically get omitted from the communications in relationships in many romances doesn’t happen here which was refreshing for me. I didn’t get frustrated with the characters for not simply talking to each other. Talia is strong in her sense of self and what she does while placing thick walls around her heart to keep herself from getting hurt because of that. Faye is reserved and unsure of herself but a fierce defender of those she cares about. Just a note, you’ll want to trounce Faye’s best friend and she more than deserves it. I enjoyed Emma Griffith’s performance throughout. She did a great job representing the angst and emotion of the characters. I do like a bit more differentiation between character voices but overall a solid performance.

I really enjoyed this story and the narration. I had read this book prior to the audio and the performance is really good. She does a great job with inflection and emotion throughout and while the voices of characters aren’t that different, they are just enough for me. I loved the story and the journey that Bellamy and Payton take. A meeting and act of kindness that lead to one unforgettable night turns into a challenging professional life shortly thereafter. Bellamy has to overcome maintaining the status quo of her life to get everything she thinks she wants. Payton is focused on how she can take care of her family and the fight she’s prepared for to gain custody of her nephew. Both find in each other a person who understands them and wants the other but will Bellamy be able to overcome the hurt and uncertainty that has built over the years? I hope you enjoy this offering from Adrian J. Smith and Lois Ridge as much as I did. I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

Ms. Kelly pens a terrific end to Eve’s story. The continued growth of Eve is central of course, but the realizations and developments with other characters are well written. I love the segments with the doc which really gives the reader/listener a deeper insight into the minds of Eve, Lainey, Adam, and a bit of Willamena herself. Ms. Stavers does a very good job voicing the different characters and capturing the sentiments expressed from Ms. Kelly’s characters.

I loved this book! The story is very well written and facts researched. The journey of Erin and Molly is a joy to experience and Amy Deuchler did a great job with the narration. Whether it’s the challenges two women face in an unusual position for their time, adjusting to a new family, or the dangers of the trail, the story moves with such detail you really picture it as heads west.
