Struggled through this one
Revisado: 07-19-18
For only being three hours long, I struggled getting through this one. It gave some interesting information but I thought it also went off topic and didn't really understand what it wanted to convey to its audience- save your money and pass on this one.

Historia
Enjoy the first novels that brought the world two of Agatha Christies’ most enduring detectives: Miss Marple and Hercule Poirot. The Murder at the Vicarage is the first Miss Marple mystery, one which tests all her powers of observation and deduction. In The Mysterious Affair at Styles, Captain Arthur Hastings, invalided in the Great War, is recuperating as a guest of John Cavendish at Styles Court, the "country-place" of John's autocratic old aunt, Emily Inglethorpe.

Two Great Starts to a Series
Revisado: 07-19-18
This was my first dive into any Christie's detective series and it was fun. I'll admit, I enjoyed Murder at the Vicarage more so than the Mysterious Affair at Styles. I really enjoyed the small-town habits of the characters and the humor it caused. The book is narrated from the point-of-view of the vicar and his responses to events and characters were hilarious. The Mysterious Affair at Styles was shorter and had a bit less humor to it. I suppose most of the humor in Styles was caused by the unawareness of the narrator to his own faults or assumptions. Over all I really loved Murder at the Vicarage and I think I'll continue with the Miss Marple Series. I'll keep on with Poirot as well and see if I end up enjoying that series as well.

Took me a bit, but I like it!
Revisado: 07-19-18
This one took me a little bit to get into. For the first half I wasn't really very interested in the plot or narrative of the book but as things started to pick up I really started to enjoy it. The more world building that was added, the more engaged I was. I'll be curious to see how the series and characters will develop.

Enjoyable
Revisado: 07-19-18
This was an enjoyable overview of the science behind various materials we interact with every day. I think the section on paper could have been fleshed out a bit more but the author's background is in metals and materials used for transportation so I didn't dwell on it too much. The narrator did a great job and it was a nice little read for my commute.

Really Enjoyable and Interesting
Revisado: 07-06-18
I really enjoyed this one. The first half of the audio book focuses more on the evolution of octopuses and of consciousness in animals while the second half starts to look into more recent observations about the octopuses and cephalopods that inhabit our world. A really interesting listen with a great narrator.

My First Christie Novel and It Will Not Be My Last
Revisado: 07-06-18
This was amazing. It was my first Agatha Christie novel and I think I'm hooked.
I was constantly coming up with theories while listening to the audio book and none of them ended up being correct.
It also helped that a narration was perfect.
Definitely recommend this book to just about everyone- it really is a classic.

Historia
Winter lasts most of the year at the edge of the Russian wilderness, and in the long nights, Vasilisa and her siblings love to gather by the fire to listen to their nurse’s fairy tales. Above all, Vasya loves the story of Frost, the blue-eyed winter demon. Wise Russians fear him, for he claims unwary souls, and they honor the spirits that protect their homes from evil. Then Vasya’s widowed father brings home a new wife from Moscow. Fiercely devout, Vasya’s stepmother forbids her family from honoring their household spirits, but Vasya fears what this may bring.

Lots of Set-Up but a Great Second Half
Revisado: 04-21-18
I was excited to read this one since I had seen it trending and I love books about Russian fairy tales. I did love the characters and the way the author wrote in the various creatures from Russian lore but I hadn't realized that this book was the start of a series when I started. The first half of the book felt drawn out and felt more like set up for future storylines. The more interesting storytelling doesn't seem to start until much farther in the book. I'll have to see how the future story progresses but I felt like I would have enjoyed this more as a single novel. The narrator did a great job.
(As a side note, if you're interested in Russian fairytale novels, I would recommend Deathless by Catherynne Valente. I'm not sure how the audiobook is, but I enjoyed the book when I read it a few years back).

In this award-winning Audible Studios production, Trevor Noah tells his wild coming-of-age tale during the twilight of apartheid in South Africa. It’s a story that begins with his mother throwing him from a moving van to save him from a potentially fatal dispute with gangsters, then follows the budding comedian’s path to self-discovery through episodes both poignant and comical.

Wow, an Amazing Need-to-Listen Audiobook
Revisado: 04-21-18
This was an amazing audiobook. I definitely recommend listening to this book as Trevor does an amazing job not just in the writing but also in the narration of this book. The book covers serious topics within the course of Trevor Noah's childhood but is inspiring in the attitude of perseverance and love you feel despite the hardships. The work is comedic at times in the face of life's ironies but does not push aside the seriousness of the topics covered. Again, amazingly written and performed.

Good Read For Anyone
Revisado: 04-21-18
This is a great read for anyone and can answer a lot of questions that often people are too scared to ask. It's well written, covers many topics, and has a great narrator. I especially loved hearing Ijeoma's personal stories which the narrator really brought to life in this recording. I read this as part of a book club and it overall had a very good reception within the group and facilitated some good conversations.

Looks like I have some books to order
Revisado: 03-13-18
I listened to 'Prophecies, Libels, and Dreams' recently and got hooked into the world of Califa. Unfortunately Audible doesn't have the second or third book in the Flora Segunda series so I'm going to order the physical copies. Honestly, this first book could easily be a stand-alone as it closes very well and leaves you feeling satisfied with the ending.
My only complaint is that there seems to be a production issue where a chapter will end and then without a seconds pause it will begin the next chapter. It's a bit jarring and annoying but other than that I enjoyed this book a lot.
