Historia
We live in a culture that's all about self, becoming the best "me" I can be instead of becoming like Jesus. This me-centered message affects every area of our lives - our friendships, our marriages, even our faith - and it breaks each one in different ways. The self-focused life robs our joy, shrinks our souls, and is the reason we never quite break free of insecurity. In this book, Sharon Hodde Miller invites us into a bigger, Jesus-centered vision - one that restores our freedom and inspires us to live for more.

Surprised!
Revisado: 09-25-24
My sister-n-law recommended the book. Because she did I put it in my watch later folder, told her so. Then I figured I’d never get around to it. Not my kind of read. So I thought. But I started listening and couldn’t stop. It is an introspective, well written, and researched book - with many authors quoted. The author’s grasp of the value of serving others to free yourself from the trap of the idolatry of self is excellent. It clearly is written for women. But it is equally as valuable for men. As a man I certainly benefited from it. I didn’t expect much. But I was pleasantly surprised. I often laughed out-loud, and my heart was touched. I’ve recommended it to several men as well as women. The reader also was excellent. Thank you!

Historia
Taking his trademark intellectual approach to understanding Christianity, Timothy Keller uncovers the essential message of Jesus, locked inside his most familiar parable. Within that parable Jesus reveals God's prodigal grace toward both the irreligious and the moralistic. This book will challenge both the devout and skeptics to see Christianity in a whole new way.

Historia
Abraham Lincoln is the most beloved of all US presidents. He freed the slaves, gave the world some of its most beautiful phrases, and redefined the meaning of America. He did all of this with wisdom, compassion, and wit. Yet, throughout his life, Lincoln fought with God. In his early years in Illinois, he rejected even the existence of God and became the village atheist. In time, this changed but still he wrestled with the truth of the Bible, preachers, doctrines, the will of God, the providence of God, and then, finally, God’s purposes in the Civil War.

Powerful and Insightful

I feel as though, after listening to this book, that I have a fuller sense of not only Lincoln’s battle with God, but as Lincoln as a man.

One person talks; the other listens. It's so basic that we take it for granted. Unfortunately, most of us think of ourselves as better listeners than we actually are. Why do we so often fail to connect when speaking with family members, romantic partners, colleagues, or friends? How do emotional reactions get in the way of real communication? This thoughtful, witty, and empathic book has already helped over 100,000 people break through conflicts and transform their personal and professional relationships.

Historia
Though he was orphaned at age 14, repeatedly struck with debilitating illnesses, and unfairly expelled from college, Brainerd allowed nothing to deter him from serving God wholeheartedly. He traveled thousands of miles by horseback across treacherous terrain to preach the gospel to remote Indians. Their benefit ultimately brought about his early death at the age of 29. This book not only offers a captivating story, but an uplifting buoy for those who are weary, distant, or discouraged.

An inspired life!
Revisado: 05-30-18
One can’t listen to the telling of Brainerd’s life without being humbled by our own insufficiency in our walk with the Lord. As well as inspired to seek first His righteousness. Glorious!
