Historia
The year is 2065, and Washington, D.C. stands on the brink of collapse after the United States loses the information war, leaving society fractured into cutthroat tribal factions. In the midst of this chaos, Feonix Cheenoma—a brilliant young editor from one of the city’s poorest wards—receives a desperate plea from her dying uncle: enter a contest to lead Station 7, the last media empire still claiming to be trustworthy, and restore a fragile democracy on the verge of destruction.

Intriguingly dark story about the importance of freedom of press
Revisado: 04-15-25
This was a gritty story that played into my fears about the possibility of losing democracy and the danger we already face with misinformation spread everywhere. It’s narrated by the author which feels like an immediate connection between her and her readers.
A lot happens in the span of 6 narration hours, my mind is still reeling. I’ll be looking forward to reading this book again when the sequel comes out.

Two new favourite narrators
Revisado: 04-11-25
The story is very simple and a little too lovey dovey for my personal taste. But I am still glad I checked it out, the war time correspondents angle really gave the story some substance. I also really enjoyed the narrators, will certainly check them out in the future.

All I wanted to know after reading the previous 3 books was mentioned, finally!, in the epilogue. This book is needed to conclude the storylines but I didn’t enjoy a single minute.

Historia
Reservation "bad boy" Thomas Begay is found dead drunk under the La Plata Bridge, which is not unusual for him. What is unusual, however, is that beautiful BIA investigator Patsy Greyhorse is found lying beside him, not drunk or even a Navajo but very dead nonetheless. Charlie Yazzie, fresh from law school, risks his career and even his life to help his old friend. The answer seems to lie with the Yeenaaldiooshii...should one choose to believe in such things.

Perfect audio booklet for when you need to drive somewhere or finish a project
Revisado: 09-15-24
Just under 4 hours it’s a perfect little mystery to keep you company whilst your working on something else. It keeps you entertained without requiring too much thinking or brain power. On top of that it has a nice mystery and chase going on.

Interesting premise
Revisado: 07-27-24
I think I would’ve enjoyed this book had I read it on paper. The audiobook makes the slow pacing stand out more and the alien pronunciation game hard to follow. I also would like to see Auncle’s speech written out and see what the narrator based her interpretation on, for me it took away from my enjoyment enormously. Rather undoable really. Didn’t enjoy listening.

The audiobook does the story a disservice
Revisado: 07-21-24
What an amazing story!
Unfortunately the audio does this book a disservice by being very inconsistent in audio levels and having several narrators without consistent separation.

Very uneven narration
Revisado: 06-27-24
I couldn’t listen to this narration. The speed is off all the time, for most conversations and inner thoughts it only sounds like natural talking speed if I listen to 1.5! But then there are conversations amongst the young friends and they are narrated on normal speed and I find myself adjusting the speed all the time. Same for the dynamics! Yes sure a wide range is good but I cannot be jumping for the sound button all the time because I either cannot hear what’s going on or they are yelling at me.
This makes me really not enjoy this audiobook and regret that I both bought this one and the sequel at the same time.

Non fiction would have been a better format for this story
Revisado: 01-21-24
The narrator does their best but the combination of autobiographical references and a malconstructed detective story doesn’t work.

The story is amazing but not in audio format
Revisado: 01-16-24
I cannot precisely pinpoint what it is with this narrator but I cannot follow the story he is telling me. It might be because of the wide range in dynamics he uses, meaning all the soft voices get lost for me. Listening at full volume is not good for my ears and the ordinary voices don’t need full volume but the soft voices are inaudible for me and even on full volume difficult to follow. It also might be all the Dutch names of people and places that I cannot recognise when he pronounces them. Either way I couldn’t follow the narration.
I was intrigued nevertheless and picked up the kindle version, reading through it (from the very beginning again) I raced through the story and fully enjoyed it.
