Better than the last book
Revisado: 11-09-23
I almost didn't get this book because the previous book was so bad. I decided to give this one a try with the hope that it will actually have a plot and move forward as a real story. I enjoyed this book. The previous was lacking so much that it could have easily been the first one or two chapters of Slay.
Spoilers:
I was glad to see that Caine finally got killed off but I was a little disappointed that he didn't take Asher down with him when he died. I want Asher to be discontinued but I don't want the next four or five books to be about his loss and how devastating it was. I think the easiest and quickest way to get rid of him will be for him to find a new passion or purpose in some other part of the world. I loved the new bear animal she got and hope to see more of that in the future books. I was also glad to see that her family was finally included in the book. It was interesting to meet grandmother Blake and her immediate family. I would like to see some more family involvement that resolves some of the personal issues and allows Anita to evolve into a character that has the capacity to learn and face the world in newer and more creative ways. And how it turns out with grandma's arrest and trial. I am really glad the book wasn't all about the sex scenes. I know some people like them more but I think including them as bonus content is a much better way to include them. I like following Anita as she is challenged by villains that are very powerful but it would be nice to see one with a more complex character. It was great to see an actual dragon included as a powerful foe but the character was pretty stupid and one dimensional for a being that survived for thousands of years. I was so relieved that Hamilton finally didn't make Nathanial and his hair front and center. The hair gets mentioned so frequently that it could be considered another character. I love Wicked and Truth would like to see more of them and more involvement in Anita's life. They are intelligent strong warriors that survived for centuries and could bring a lot to the books. Overall I enjoyed the book and look froward to the next.

Not a whole book
Revisado: 03-22-23
A whole lot of dialog but I can't really say it's a complete book. The author started a new plot that seemed like it was going to be interesting but then the plot seemed to dissolve into the background as the characters droned on and on about the same personal and relationship issues that have been "discovered" and discussed to death in most of the previous books. They went from the urgency of saving a whole building full of people and agreeing to cooperate to do it then they pick the emergency to deal with personal issues instead of the life or death emergency. Some of the characters need to evolve or be killed off so that there is room in the books for an actual plot. The cliffhanger felt more like the book just stopped rather than an actual cliffhanger that lets us know the story will continue and get even more interesting. It was like the author just decided to stop writing the book rather than finishing the book.

So far I love this series. The narrator did an excellent job. Major cliffhanger at the end and now I can't wait for the next book.

Loved it
Revisado: 02-10-21
I don't normally feel satisfied with short stories but this one did a great job of introducing two strong characters and getting them working together. I was also glad to see the narrators from both series were used to keep continuity. Like others mentioned there were some volume issues but not enough to ruin the audiobook.

Historia
All his life, Rand T’Ash has looked forward to meeting his HeartMate, with whom he could begin a family. Once a street tough, now a respected nobleman and artisan, he has crafted the perfect HeartGift, which, in the custom of the psychically gifted population of the planet Celta, is the way a man finds—and attracts—his wife… Danith Mallow is irresistibly drawn to the magnificent necklace on display in T’Ash’s shop, but she is wary of its creator, despite an overpowering attraction. In a world where everyone is defined by their psychic ability, Danith has little, placing her at the opposite end of the social spectrum from T’Ash. But T’Ash refuses to accept her rejection and sees it as a challenge instead. They are HeartMates, but can T’Ash persuade his beloved to accept her destiny by his side?

I had hopes for this one but it got so repetitive I finally gave up after a few hours. The heroine wouldn't listen to anyone and constantly insisted on how common she is. The hero wasn't any better. The secondary characters had more personality.

Awful narration
Revisado: 10-14-19
The female narrator was terrible. The voice she gave the main character was screeching and whining. I eventually gave up on finishing the book because I couldn't stand to hear the narrator. If you are interested in the book then I suggest reading the ebook instead of the audio version.

Best so far
Revisado: 01-16-19
I pre-ordered the audiobook and listened to it as soon as it was delivered to my library. I have really enjoyed this series and I think this is the best book of the series so far. Plenty of plot twists and with what happened in this book the next book could easily be as good as or better than this one. Nicole Poole is one of my favorite narrators and never fails to bring the characters to life with her voice.

Boring and repetitive
Revisado: 09-01-18
Kimberly Alexis does well as a narrator but the story is so full of the characters talking about their issues they have been discussing repeatedly in previous books that I had a hard time paying attention to the book. Too much impromptu therapy sessions and not enough monster hunting for the length of the book. I also did not appreciate the lame attempt at educating the readers about polyamory.
