As an avid and devoted fan of Ava Ross, I feel compelled to share my thoughts on her latest audiobook. Her writing has always been a source of joy for me—her prose is like music to my eyes, and I can always count on her to deliver a captivating story with every book she writes. That said, I must admit that this particular audiobook did not resonate with me as deeply as some of her previous works.

The story itself was intriguing and filled with potential, but unfortunately, the narration by Ryan and Jillian left much to be desired. Their delivery often made the beautifully crafted words feel more like mere words on a page, diminishing the impact of the script. The voices and performances didn't fully capture the essence of the characters, which detracted from my enjoyment of the book.

Additionally, I was disappointed to realize that the story's continuity is dependent on subsequent installments in the series, something I hadn't anticipated. While I understand the appeal of cliffhangers, they are a literary device that I tend to shy away from, as they often leave me in a state of suspense without any resolution. In this case, it left me unsure of whether to continue with the same narrators at the helm.

Due to medical reasons, I am no longer able to read traditional books and must rely on audiobooks or personal readers to experience literary works. While this particular audiobook didn't meet my expectations, I know that Ava Ross has produced other works with different narrators that I have thoroughly enjoyed. As such, I may choose to move on to another of her titles rather than continuing with this series.

Overall, while I hold Ms. Ross in the highest regard, this audiobook didn't quite hit the mark for me. I look forward to exploring her other works in the future, hopefully with narrators whose performances better align with the quality of her writing.

A different narrator would have been better for me

Perhaps some other narrator would have made this experience for me a bit more entertaining. Instead, it felt more like a fairy tale. Her voice has a melodic yet monotone sound more conducive to books for children or tweens.

So, what happened??

This was a great story, filled with warmth, charm and hot alien! The sex scenes were short and sweet - a little to sedate for my tastes, though. The narrator did a so-so job delivering the female lead's lines. What was the kicker though, was that the author leaves you out to dry in the end. It was like, here's the story and all of sudden, it stops! WTF!!! We don't know if dad accepted the human, if they ended up living on his planet or back on earth, or did they go off with his buddies? If the other stories end like that, I don't want to read them:(

where's the ending?!

what happened? the story ended suddenly and I, like Darius and Lily, was left adrift in space!! Please tell me there's another book in this series to tie it all together!!! grrrrrrrrrr

Shane is my new fave narrator!

ok - No doubt about...Shane East is part of that elite narrator group with the most gorgeous, sinfully sexy voices!! And that accent, oh my (swoon). Too bad the female reader wasn't up to the same level. Also the story took an abrupt left turn at the end like the house would burn down if the story wasn't finished in he next few minutes. This story deserved another few chapters and a better ending. Nonetheless, I'll take Mr. East anytime - good story or bad!
