Historia
It’s 1857, and anxious debutante Beth has just one season to snag a wealthy husband, or she and her mother will be out on the street. But playing the blushing ingenue makes Beth’s skin crawl and she’d rather be anywhere but here. Gwen, on the other hand, is on her fourth season and counting, with absolutely no intention of finding a husband, possibly ever. She figures she has plenty of security as the only daughter of a rakish earl, from whom she’s gotten all her flair, fun, and less-than-proper party games.

Not captivating
Revisado: 01-27-24
I wasn’t expecting the ending and it wasn’t very historical it was more contemporary. I had a hard time feeling engaged in this book it dragged for a long time. The characters end up being together in the end even if it’s in a weird way..

"That book. It was about two women, and they fell in love with each other." And then Lily asked the question that had taken root in her, that was even now unfurling its leaves and demanding to be shown the sun: "Have you ever heard of such a thing?" Seventeen-year-old Lily Hu can't remember exactly when the question took root, but the answer was in full bloom the moment she and Kathleen Miller walked under the flashing neon sign of a lesbian bar called the Telegraph Club. America in 1954 is not a safe place for two girls to fall in love, especially not in Chinatown.

I loved this book from start to finish. Yes it’s a coming of age story but the historical niche in the book made it such a cool get away. The narration was incredible one of the best I’ve hear so far. The narrator able to distinguish different people in the book was awesome. I just wish there was more of the MCs. Great book.

This story line is great, slow burn and with a side plot. The characters have fun personalities. Great read for a first time author, can’t wait to see what else she does.

No thanks.
Revisado: 05-02-22
The narration of this book had me cringing most of the time, except when steph was being narrated. Rest of the cast sounded moany and whiny the whole time. The story line wasn’t great, the creep that won’t take no for an answer, the over bearing mother and the two main characters are one dimensional. I barely made it through the book. Every chapter took a very long time to develop a very limited interaction between characters.

Boring
Revisado: 02-15-22
I really wanted to like this story, ironically this book had no chemistry. The whole story of the two lifelong friends needing to be forced into a date was a bit much. I made it to chapter 6 of their first date and I had to stop. Everyone assumed they were dating the story went in circles. Jae didn’t take time to develop why they had chemistry and why they were life long friends. They just were and now they’re being thrown together. Abby Craden narrates every lesbian book and they all are starting to sound like the same character.

I appreciate that the book tried to touch on peoples disabilities but the book and characters were one dimensional. The whole book is just one character with OCD and one is a Savior. I had a hard time finishing the book because it became corny. I love JF books and I hope she writes another one soon but this one wasn’t one of my favorites.

Historia
Where love is concerned, the smallest steps are often the hardest to take - especially when you’ve guarded your heart as carefully as Iris Miller has. Still bruised from a relationship that crashed and burned, and all the meaningless hookups that followed, Iris has given up on love and buttoned her feelings up tight. But when Cameron Hansen joins Iris’ law firm and her soccer team, and even starts hanging out in her favorite bookstore, everything gets turned upside down.

Very angsty

I did not care for the constant back and forth between the two main characters without much depth was annoying. It was hard to get through the book. The narrator was great, the story line was lacking relatable content.

Narration
Revisado: 04-09-21
The narrator sounded the same through the whole book, I had a hard time figuring out who was who. Especially when there are so many women. “She” sounds same and saying either name constantly is redundant. The story is nice I just wish the narration was different. I’m trying to finish the book but it’s hard.

Historia
Real life doesn’t play out like a movie. Electric connections mostly mean you’ve got static in your jumper. Camila Moore knows that; she’s not daft. She has two teenage boys and bills to pay, plus the only man she’s ever been with has traded her in for a gym bunny. Returning to work’s the answer, but when she finds herself in the wrong room and wrong place at the wrong time, the last thing she expects is to be promoted out of obscurity into the arms of Harriet Imogen Pearson, media darling, hotshot entrepreneur, and notorious lesbian playgirl.

I really tried to get into this book but there was way too much inner dialogue and I couldn’t differentiate between the character voices at all. The MC was annoying and had no personality. I couldn’t finish the book. Will try to get a refund.

Reagan’s only plan, when she came alone to a lesbian bar in the city, was to knock back a few drinks far from her lonely country house. Looking around at the younger regulars, though, maybe it was a mistake to think this was a good place to start fresh. Then she meets a beautiful woman with stunning brown eyes and the world’s cheesiest pickup lines.

Immature for the mature
Revisado: 04-01-21
I felt the story had a decent start and was a likable story to go with. Throughout the book it was too much angst for two grown adults. Constant need for approval, clarification, not simply communicating was very frustrating. The dog was adorable, the narration was great. I wish the interactions between the main MC was less ridged.
