Historia
Shelby Wolfe doesn’t believe in ghosts, but the one who asks her to solve his murder doesn’t care. River towns—even ones named Goose Lick—have their charm. For recently divorced Shelby, Goose Lick also has extended family, which is just what she needs. It also has an old police station/former hotel for sale cheap, and Shelby knows all about rehabbing old buildings. But when the former and now deceased police chief appears with his claims of murder, she realizes she’s gotten more than she bargained for. The chief died of carbon monoxide poisoning, and the town is evenly divided on ...

Great cozy mystery but narration could be better
Revisado: 12-13-24
Having lived in Ohio and Kentucky I was interested in hearing a story around places I know. I enjoyed the story and the mystery kept me interested.
The narration was offputting. There were 2 things that got to me. At times there were long pauses between words and sentences. Setting the narration speed at 30% faster still had the gaps. The other is the voice did not have the accent or inflections of people form southern Ohio or northern Kentucky. With AI it wasn't possible for the reader to change voice for the different characters so male and female speakers were all the same.

Interesting life with elephants
Revisado: 12-15-23
Although the book says it is about elephants in World War II, it is a story of a man and the relationship he had with the elephants. it is less a book of war and more a look at the bond with creatures. The war itself is only an epilogue to the journey.

Historia
Do the lessons passed down to us by history, lessons whose origins may lie hundreds, even thousands of years in the past, still have value for us today? Is Santayana's oft-repeated saying, "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it," merely a way to offer lip service to history as a teacher-or can we indeed learn from it? And if we can, what is it that we should be learning?

History relevant for today
Revisado: 04-20-23
The history of the world is delivered in a concise manner but the topics are relevant to issues seen today. History does seem to repeat itself!

Historia
Whip-smart 13-year-old Julian Costello Proctor - better known as Jules - has an eidetic memory. For as long as he can remember, he has remembered everything. "My mind is always on," he explains. But when an unexpected death throws his life into turmoil, Jules begins to experience something strange. For the first time, there are holes in his memory. But that's not the strangest part. What's really weird isn't what he's forgotten; it's what he remembers. Memories of another life, not his own.

The end is totally worth the listen
Revisado: 08-18-22
Can a boy who doesn't fit in find a way to survive a summer of challenges? The story starts out sad and I was not sure where this was going. it was worth it to follow his thoughts to the end with multiple surprises.
