Moriarty tracks down the woman he loves but discovers that she is trapped in the web of a shadowy cabal of evil that’s growing stronger every day. To fight it, Moriarty must face Lady Milverton (Mirren), a ruthless mastermind whose blackmail poisons the highest levels of power. When he learns that his nemesis Sherlock Holmes is also in Milverton’s grip, the two must set their animosity aside to stop an escalating threat of world war.

Good story, but…
Revisado: 12-02-23
I like the story overall but I take issue with how these writers have seemingly turned Holmes into more of a heartless villain and Moriarty as the bad guy with a kind heart who cares about what happens to the innocent and more interested in justice than Sherlock. Doesn’t seem to be in the spirit of the original Holmes stories for me.

Historia
A fresh start. That's what Becca hoped the move from New York to Redemption, Wisconsin would be for her troubled family. A way to get her crumbling marriage back on track, and to bond with her difficult 16-year-old stepdaughter. But instead of a new beginning, Becca is thrust into a mysterious past she barely remembers. A past that includes the complications of interacting with her old teenage crush, Daniel, as well as living in her aunt's old house. A house with a violent past. A house the locals swear is haunted.

Decent story, but narration is distracting
Revisado: 04-14-22
The basic story is pretty decent and I might have enjoyed this more if the narrator didn't whine so much in character. Her mail voices are flat out annoying. Nearly every character exchange has over the top and condescending dialogue. But I can't tell if its just poorly written or poorly delivered by the narrator. I only stuck with it because the story had some promise.

Historia
Dr. Temperance Brennan, Forensic Anthropologist for the Province of Quebec, digs for a corpse where Sister Elisabeth Nicolet, dead for over a century and now a candidate for sainthood, should be lying in her grave. A strange, small coffin, buried in the recesses of a decaying church, holds the first clue to the cloistered nun's fate. The puzzle surrounding Sister Elisabeth Nicolet's life and death provides a welcome contrast to discoveries at a burning chalet, where scorched and twisted bodies await Tempe's professional expertise.

Looking for TV series Bones? Don't read this...
Revisado: 12-30-19
Realizing that movies and tv may be "inspired" by written stories but not necessarily stick to the original works, this Tempe is nothing like the quirky by likable Tempe from the television show. In fact, this Tempe is sort of unlikable. This story, and other Brennan series that I've read are really good for the most part. However, I've not liked any of the narrators as they all seem to speak in monotone and devoid of much voice inflection or emotion. Additionally, I am now well aware that Ms. Reichs is anti-NRA/guns and also thinks Christians who don't believe in the use of embryonic stem cells are "zealots". That's enough for me. I don't have to know nor agree with a writers political or social beliefs, but I also don't need them to sneak their opinions into the narrative so shamefully.
So, basically good stories, well written, poor narrations.
