A Gallup study found that 50 percent of resigning employees did so "to get away from their manager". The ones who don't quit become disengaged, creating a negative work environment costing US companies billions in lost productivity, each year. Leaders in the 21st century need to understand that technical skills are not enough to be an effective manager. They need to able to demonstrate tactical empathy to create a more productive environment.

okay. I have listened to this book twice. now I am onto my third time listening to it. there is just a lot of good information within this book that I feel is important to gather. I especially like it the section where he talks about ego. Don't let your ego get the best of you and lose good employees because of your ego.

everyone needs to take control of their lives.
Revisado: 08-18-20
it's interesting reading this book at a time when things are so politically heated that there is no right answer. in this book take control of your life I found several principles that I wholeheartedly agree with however anytime anything within this book ends up being politicized it would end up being attacked. it's interesting reading this book during this time of political divide in our country and seeing what is possible to change that and things only potentially getting worse with the hatred that is there. if only people would take control of their lives. I feel as though Mel Robbins does an excellent job with this book as well as all of her others and I feel as though she has a great ability to unite people for a common cause.

Revisado: 07-27-20
wow I don't even know where to begin as to where I feel like this book went wrong. I understood the message I understood what the point that he was trying to get crossed I understood all of that but this book was really just was not my cup of tea at all. The message that I pretty much got out of this book was EFF everyone else and take care of yourself Don't serve anyone Don't worry about anybody else this world is here for you and you alone. I honestly feel like that's the wrong message we need in the world today. and maybe there are some things that I missed. I do find it admirable that went through the things that he went through and was able to overcome. I find it interesting that through everything that he was able to go through through all of his hardships he struggled and came out on top on some things that others he felt flat on his face and did own up to them, did still to this day does not own up to a lot of the things that went wrong in his life. I wish the best for the guy I honestly do but there's no humility, no humility. and that's what makes the world a better place is people that are humble willing to look inside themselves and say oh I did something wrong let's see if I can change it there was nothing in in this book that that made me think that he wants to change for the better it's all it's all about him. I don't know that I would recommend this book to anyone. I wish him the best but man I could have done without all the language. I get the portion of it where he said if this language is offensive to you you don't have to listen to it I don't care what people think about the language. I thought the whole point of this book was to tell a story that inspired people. that is not what I got at all this book made me depressed and maybe depressed to see that this is what our society has become... I only wish that we could take a look at this and truly ask ourselves truly ask ourselves is this the best that we can do. now David if you're reading this congratulations for all the crap you went through. my hat goes off to you I probably would have put a bullet in my brain long beforehand I don't think that I could have done it. but I honestly don't believe that you are the only successor I don't really think you gave your mom enough credit in this because you made it sound like it was all you and none of it was anyone else. why did you not put that much energy into making your relationships work? at the end of the day this kind of a book the way it was read was kind of cool as a podcast/book/ everything else. but the stories behind it racism but exists on both ends not just white people anyway I digress. at the end of the day I think we need to ask better of ourselves. I honestly think the level of intellect that we speak is shown by our language and if all we speak is a vulgarities then we're not very intelligent. why couldn't you have worked this hard on your family and serving other people then on yourself sounded like you were extremely selfish I get the whole hashtag can't hurt me. okay now that I've ripped into the book is to the things I didn't like let me put together some things that I did like. I did like about the mindset. about is a battle of the mines and if something was wrong that we needed to conquer in our minds first before we could conquer in any other aspect. I enjoyed the stories. I enjoyed listening to the trials that were overcome. I enjoyed listening to the additional comments between every chapter. I enjoyed the goals as to how to make yourself a better person if I agreed with all of them then I found them to be useful. I did not agree with all of them. there are several other books that strongly disagree with some of the goals that were given in this book. I enjoyed listening to how real the struggle was. at the end of the day I'm not sure what else to think.

something we all need to do better at.
Revisado: 07-05-20
it's interesting listening to this book right now in a time of turmoil and confusion. there's a lot of people that don't know exactly what to do with their anger. and yet this book I feel offers a lot of clarity that others desperately need. it's interesting that in order to be happy we rely upon the physical needs of this world, but in order to be truly happy we have everything we already need.

great life lessons and examples
Revisado: 05-15-20
The stories and lessons that are spoken about in this book are fabulous. The stories go into great detail as how to put into your own life the lessons from this book. The only thing I wish I could have gotten more from this book was actual understandings of the principles in more depth rather than in some aspects endless droning. all in all this book was very well written.
