The Port Elspeth Jewelry Making Club by Holly Tierney-Bedord is mystery at it's best.

Is a jewelry making club really solving an old case of murder?

We follow the ladies of The Port Elspeth Jewelry Making Club as they gossip and discuss things that used to be in Port Elspeth's past. The group is made up of ladies from different classes, backgrounds, and ages. They plan to make jewelry and then sell it at the Women's Club fundraiser. However, things get a little off course, and making jewelry becomes the last thing the ladies are worried about.

There is Candance, new to town, and the group's founder, Pearl, and Margo, mother ad daughter both single at the moment. Then we have Audra, the art teacher from the next town over, followed by Vivienne, an ex-socialite and Oliva, her sixteen-year-old daughter. Once they meet for the first time, their lives begin to intertwine. As they become friends, they help each other through some hard times and significant life challenges.

The Mystery
Our group of ladies discusses an old case where two high school seniors from prominent families are involved in a murder-suicide about five years earlier. The kicker is that the young man involved is Vivienne's son. So, the other ladies sit and gossip, discretely asking questions and getting information from people they know. It's funny how it plays out, and I honestly fell for the most obvious red herring. I was positive that I knew who did it. However, I was so wrong.

The Narrator
Connie Shabshab does a fantastic job. I love the voice that she uses for Vivienne. I was immediately able to picture Vivienne perfectly in my head. Ms. Shabshab keeps your attention as she adds the perfect amount of drama to the story.

Five Stars
So, between Ms. Tierney-Bedord and Ms. Shabshab, this story ultimately came to life. I was engrossed and entertained. It is such a fabulous mystery. Therefore, I am rating it with five stars. I look forward to Ms. Tierney-Bedord's next book, In the Heart of Windy Pines. I highly recommend the Audible book or the kindle edition.

Revisado: 02-07-20

The Snowflake Valley Advice Fairy by Holly Tierney-Bedord is a sweet little romance to read.

Is the real Snowflake Valley to much for Elinor?

Elinor and Nile
Elinor is the main character and is the new Snowflake Valley's Advice Fairy named Merry the Fairy. She is trying to figure out how to connect with the townspeople that are more real and not so festive like they are at the festivals. Elinor is a great character as she is trying to make this work but isn't feeling it. Until Elinor gets some good ideas and maybe sees what the townspeople think of the new advice fairy.

Nile is the male love interest and is a reporter. He is a complex character who doesn't want to let anyone in until Elinor comes along and changes his mind. Nile is also essential for Elinor, and I like how their little romance came through. I think that Nile is a charming guy but doesn't want anyone to see it as he has been hurt before. However, what he does to help Elinor out is adorable.

Narrator
I think that Jeannette Smith did a fabulous job of narrating this story. She did each voice for every character very well. I love it. Ms. Smith did a fantastic job, and I look forward to "ear reading" or listening to another book that she narrates.

Five Stars
The Snowflake Valley Advice Fairy by Holly Tierney-Bedord is worthy of this five-star rating and a recommendation. It's a perfect book to either listen to or read. It's a great romance, and I love the newspaper feel of it. Ms. Tierney-Bedord is a great author, and I love reading, or in this case, listening to her books. Elinor and Nile are two great characters, especially with their older coworkers. Their coworkers don't believe that these two millennials are going to do a great job at being a reporter and advice fairy.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy from the author. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Revisado: 01-16-20

Coached by Holly Tierney-Bedord is about how one young lady changed her life around and became a better person.

Can Rowen fix everything that she doesn't like about herself?

Rowen
Rowen "Ro-Ro" for a bit in the book, is not always focused on her life. She is at a job that she doesn't like, her so-called boyfriend isn't there anymore, and she just doesn't want her life the way it is. Rowen decided instead of trying it out on her own to go to a life coach. The book is written as a diary-type format. Basically, someone who writes down everything that is going on in their life.

What I like about Rowen is that she felt like she needed this, and it seemed to have been working despite the way that Crystal was going on about it. Another thing that I like is that Rowen was doing a great job of changing things on herself. The one thing that I disliked is that Rowen should have kept those bunnies that she got from her grandpa.

The Romance
Rowen throughout was trying to get her boyfriend Sherman to realize that he doesn't need to go out of state to be happy since Rowen is here where he belongs. Well, it doesn't work the way that she has wanted, and I think that is a good thing. Sherman didn't seem like the type of guy that is right for her. Rowen has seen a guy around that she thinks is cute but doesn't talk to him. She does end up eventually talking to him, and everything has worked out fine for her since. I think that is great of her, and I am glad that she isn't caught up on Sherman since she shouldn't change herself for a guy. Change yourself for you.

The Narrator
Ms. Julie Kelly does a fantastic job of bringing Rowen's voice to life and the other characters as well. I do have to say that this has to be the funniest audiobook that I have listened to just from listening to the narrator's voice change for certain characters. I give Julie Kelly five stars.

Four Stars for Coached by Holly Tierney-Bedord
Coached by Holly Tierney-Bedord is a great read, and I think that Ms. Bedord has done a fantastic job on this one. I can't wait to read more books that she narrates. I am giving this book four stars and recommending it to my chick-lit fiends.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy from the author. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Revisado: 01-16-20

Murder at Mistletoe Manor by Holly Tierney-Bedord is the perfect mash of Clue, and I Know What You Did Last Summer.

Can Klarinda figure out who is killing her guests before the murder comes for her?

Klarinda Snow
Klarinda is our innkeeper and sleuth. Well, an unknowing sleuth. She is an unknowing sleuth since she didn't mean to start sleuthing around, but it just happened. Klarinda is a lovely character in the way that she came to own the inn and with how she has been running it. I like this character as she wants the mystery to be solved and for the bodies of her guests to stop dropping like flies.

The Mystery
Klarinda has a full house with all six of her rooms occupied, and she has no clue how they are all connected. The first five seem to be but not the last one. That seems to be some flook until they start dropping like flies. I thought I knew who it was before the sleuth did, and I was right.

The Narrator
Christopher Lane is a great narrator. I was able to immerse myself in the story through his unique way of telling it. My only problem is that most of his female voices just seemed too much alike that I had to wait to see what name he would say said what to make any sense of it. Other than that, he did a great job.

Four Stars for Murder at Mistletoe Manor by Holly Tierney-Bedord
I am giving Murder at Mistletoe Manor by Holly Tierney-Bedord four stars along with recommending it to any cozy mystery lover out there. It's a great little read that will make you feel like a grand detective while reading it.

Revisado: 01-01-20

Dogged By Love by Holly Tierney-Bedord is not only a sweet romance but what life is like for our pets. Including what they think when we get in a new relationship.

Can Rufus accept the fact that Edward is looking for a lady friend?
Rufus
Rufus, the dog, is named after Rufus P. McDougal and is owned by a British lad. He is used to lazy days and having human food, along with not doing much in terms of exercising. Rufus doesn't seem to mind as he is happy to be home with Edward. Well, until Edward decided that he needed female companionship. There is a lot to like about Rufus. One of those things happened to be the way he thought of to get rid of some of Edward's dates. I love the way that he talks and thinks as well.

Edward
Edward is Rufus's owner and has been loving his company. Lately, he has wanted something more, especially after a talk with his mum. Edward isn't overly fat, but he is pleasantly plump. He has a hard time trying to form a relationship with the first two, but the third time is the charm. A lot happens involving Edward, Rufus, and the new lady friend.

Narrator
Rufus P. McDougal narrating a book with his name in it must have been excellent. Rufus has a great way of bringing Rufus the dog's voice out, and it's incredible. There isn't anything that I would change about it. Ms. Tierney-Bedord is a great author, and this story shows it.

Five Stars
Dogged by Love by Holly Tierney-Bedord is an excellent book told from the point of view of a dog. Not only that, but the voice narrating it is the person that the Rufus the Dog was named after. I think this book was fantastic and I'm giving it five stars. But there is more. I am also recommending it to anyone that is a fan of Holly's.

Halloween Candy with a Side of Murder by Meredith Potts is a lovely, short, and is easy to follow along. I listened to the Audible version of it, and I loved it. Halloween Candy with a Side of Murder is in a coastal town named Treasure Cove in the fall. A week from Halloween which is a perfect beginning book for the spooky season.

The Main Character:
The main character in Halloween Candy with a Side of Murder is Sabrina Daley. She grew up in Treasure Cove than left and came back again to work at her family’s coffee shop. The story is from her point of view. It’s also a pretty short story, and I loved how you didn’t have to read the other books to get what the characters were talking about or their relationships.

What I liked about Sabrina
• Sabrina is a pretty interesting character. She works at her family’s coffee place, yet she was able to investigate one of her customers and friend’s death.
• She has a little corgi named Snickerdoodle which seems like a pretty awesome dog.
• Sabrina is very stubborn, and she loves candy.
• She is also a big fan of the little Ma and Pa shops around the town. She is trying to save them all, and it’s pretty awesome.

The Love Interest:
Sabrina’s boyfriend David is a detective. They seem like a cute couple.

The Villain:
I am not going to spoil this for anyone, but I will tell you that I was wrong about the identity of the murder. It was pretty entertaining to see who did it.

The Narrator
Ms. Beacom did a great job on narrating. The voices that she used were pretty cool. However, Ms. Beacon did confuse Sabrina’s mom’s voice with David’s voice, but it was still fantastic. She made the story very pleasant to listen too.

Five Stars
Halloween Candy with a Side of Murder by Meredith Potts was magnificent. I thought I knew who did it but I was surprised to see that I was wrong. It is a great book, and I loved it. I am giving this book a five-star rating, and I am recommending it to anyone that likes cozy mysteries.

Revisado: 09-30-18

Brownies and Broomsticks by Bailey Cates is a good book. I listened to the Audible version of it, and I loved it. This book that made me feel like I was there with the characters. Brownies and Broomsticks is set in Savannah, Georgia when it was nice and hot, which was splendid as the last few days it’s been getting cold here in Montana. What a perfect book to listen to while doing my chores or taking a walk.

The Main Character:
The main character in Brownies and Broomsticks is Katie Lightfoot. She is a twenty-eight-year-old baker who is a recent transplant to Savannah, Georgia. Kate arrives there after a breakup with her fiancé. She is in Georgia to open up a bakery with her aunt and uncle. The story is from her point of view. I think this worked quite well under some specific circumstances that Katie had found herself in throughout the story.

What I liked about Katie
• Katie loves to bake, and she was doing that with her aunt and uncle by owning a bakery.
• She took in a dog hoping that she wouldn't have to take him to the pound. Thank goodness she fell in love with him instead.
• Katie is stubborn and didn’t take any prisoners when it came to trying to help to solve a murder.

What I disliked about Katie
• She didn’t at least try to entertain the notion of what her aunt told her about herself and her family.
• Katie didn’t trust herself or her instincts.

The Love Triangle:
This book is the first in this series, and Katie Lightfoot doesn’t know which guy she likes. However, before moving to Savannah, gave up on men for a bit to have a break. The two new men in her life currently are Steve and Declan. Steve is a newsroom reporter, and Declan is a fireman. They both like Katie but they hate each other. I have no clue which one she will choose.

The Villain:
I am not going to spoil this for anyone, but I will tell you that there are more than one. So, I figured out one just not the other. I liked how Ms. Cates was able to do this.

The Narrator
Ms. Parker did a great job on narrating. It was a bit hard at first, but toward the middle, I liked how she was portraying each character with her voice. It helped transport me to Georgia.

Five Stars
Brownies and Broomsticks by Bailey Cates was magnificent to listen. I loved it so much. This book was excellent and kept me guessing about who did it. There was a lot of red herrings until we finally got to the real killer and when we got to that part, I was certainly shocked that I was wrong. It was great. I am giving this book a five-star rating, and I am recommending to anyone that likes cozy mysteries.

Revisado: 09-12-18

Witchin’ USA by Amanda M. Lee and Narrated by: Angel Clark was such an awesome book. I loved being able to listen to it while doing my chores or just other things around the house. It was a really great read. I loved all the characters in it and the way the scenery was described in the book made me actually believe I was there with Hadley.

The Main Character:
The main character in this book is named Hadley Hunter who just moved to Moonstone Bay Island, Florida because of an inheritance from her grandmother May Potter. Hadley is the main character because of the fact that she is the main first point of view character telling the whole story. She is a pretty relatable character in my mind with how she is dealing with discovering a whole family is still alive on her mom’s side that she wants to get to know. Of course by going to this island she is finding a lot of things out that she wishes she never did.

The things that I like about Hadley is that she doesn’t fall for some of the things that the islanders tell her throughout the story even though she should really believe them about some of the stuff that she is being told. Another thing that I like is that she doesn’t put up with either Booker or Gavin’s flirting with her all that much. She takes what she learns in stride and either believes them or thinks that they are all losing their minds.

The things that I dislike about her is the fact that she doesn’t think that her father could do no wrong when it came to raising her and letting her decide what she needed to know. I also dislike that she comes up with the most ridiculous things about what might have happened between her and Gavin.

The Who I think is the Love Interest
I’m only saying this title like this because I’m not technically sure. Even though all cozies go with the love interest being a cop it makes sense with who her love interest is. Granted this is the first book and we shouldn’t assume. I like to assume though and make predictions about stuff like this. Plus with the way they acted in the book it definitely seems to be that Gavin is Hadley’s love interest. It’s also a bit hard to do this part in any book review.

What I liked about him is the fact that he knows that he is hot and uses it even though Hadley isn’t really affected by his charms all the time. He is always there for her when she doesn’t really think of him coming to rescue her. He is also very considerate of her feelings and with how much she can handle about learning the truth about the island.
The thing that I don’t like about him is that he is overly confident in himself in the areas of being sexually appealing to a girl. The other thing I didn’t like about him is he laughs about some of the things that Hadley says when she is trying to be either serious or not to get to overloaded by some of the things that the town has given her to think about it.

The Villain
I can’t exactly say who the villain is since that will be a total spoiler. Instead I can give you a list of who I think the villain was when I was listening to it. They are Mark Santiago, Sarah Santiago, Wesley Potter, Ned who is a family lawyer for Hadley’s grandma, and Booker a guy who is basically the Jack of all trades for the island.

The Narrator
Angel Clark is the narrator for this book and I have to say she had me laughing throughout the whole book. She is very talented reading out loud on audible. I loved the different voices she was using for the girls and guys that Hadley met. Even Hadley’s voice at times was pretty funny. I loved that with Ms. Clark reading I felt like I was transported to where the book took place and was experiencing all of it with Hadley. It was pretty cool but also pretty terrifying at some points.

Five Stars
Witchin’ USA by Amanda M. Lee and Narrated by Angel Clark was such a great read. Well really a great listen to book. It took me a bit longer to do this book since it was over 10 hours of listening to. I am still giving this book five stars since it was so worth it. I had no clue who was the villain of this book at all until Hadley discovered who it was. I have to say that it definitely kept me entertained and thinking about this book even though I was supposed to be doing another book. I will so totally recommend this book to anyone that loves a cozy witch mystery books. Witchin’ USA is that good.

My take on this book: The Choice by Nicholas Sparks is a great book and keeps you guessing about the choices that Travis and Gabby had to make throughout the book. Nicholas Sparks in true fashion was making me cry throughout it as I was listening to the book and of course wondering what was going on with Travis and Gabby.

Travis Parker is a small town guy, that was having a good time to live his life the way that he has been for a while. He is a happy-go-lucky type of guy. Gabby Holland, a city girl, with a boyfriend that she has been dating since college moves in next door to Travis. These two meet with Gabby making a complete utter fool of herself over a misunderstanding. The chemistry between them is pretty instantaneous.

These two were funny, awesome, and complete romantics with each other especially throughout the flashbacks that Travis was taking us through. Mr. Sparks really knows how to really make someone fall in love with the characters, all the while keeping you guessing at his actual plan for the characters.

This is my first audiobook review and Holter Graham's reading of this book is superb. He has a really good voice for reading this Nicholas Sparks' book. I love the way he uses different voices for each character. The voice he uses for when he is reading something from a girl is pretty funny. Okay, his voice for reading all of the characters and just the regular things from the book is pretty awesome.

I will totally recommend this book for any adult readers that read my blog since I am pretty sure that this Nicholas Sparks book isn’t for teenagers but then again I could be wrong. Either way, I will recommend this book to anyone that asks me about it. Nicholas Sparks books can be read by themselves or with the audiobook reader if you are too busy in your life to sit down and read the book like a normal person. I am going to say that I love being able to do an audiobook and I can’t wait to do it again sometime soon.

I am giving The Choice by Nicholas Sparks a 5-star rating because of course the book was fabulous and something that I love.

Revisado: 04-08-18

I really enjoyed this audiobook. The story is wonderful. I loved the nerdy comments, the film references, and the witty conversations. The hauntings added just the right amount of spookiness.

Deacon is an unusual hero. He has the background of old money and yet the money he uses to rebuild the family home is from money that he has made himself in the tech world. I love that Deacon was extremely comfortable in his own skin, even though others didn’t agree with his decisions. He has an eclectic taste in movies and is a self-proclaimed Si-Fi nerd. Deacon has a way of making things fun even when it is serious. However, Deacon doesn't believe in the hauntings at first but he goes along with the others.

Nina is a great character. She starts out meek and afraid of her own shadow, who unfolds much like her beloved flowers. It just took friendship, love, and acceptance for her to bloom. She is extremely talented in landscape design. The indoor room that she creates is so easy to picture. I loved the ideas that Nina has for the gardens and the interior. She loves to dig and design but she truly has a heart of gold. Nina is highly sensitive to the hauntings on the island, it made me think that she was the one related to the ghosts.

The supporting cast is great too. They all make a wonderful team. Jake and Cindy with their little romance of sorts, along with Dottie and the others all fit together wonderfully with a comedic attitude toward finding the cause of the haunting. The way they each deal with the supernatural haunting on the island adds a real belief to the story. They form this wonderful family unit. It is extremely nice the way that they protect, support and work together.

The narrator, Amanda Ronconi does a wonderful job. She has a way of playing off the suspense in the story and the voices that she uses to add a warmth to the story are lovely.

This was the first book that I have read (heard) by Molly Harper, I truly enjoyed it and will be looking up some of her other books. The pop culture references and snarkiness is the best. My rating is 5 stars.
