Those of us prepared to think for ourselves owe Mr Epstein a debt of thanks for his clear, rational, and intelligent advocacy for the future necessity of fossil fuels. This is the best book to challenge the lazy orthodoxy of climate change alarmism.

The Right Strategy

I cannot share all of Dreher's Catholic theology. But that is not the point of the book. It is a book of strategy, and the strategy is sound. American, and indeed all Western society is irredeemably secular. Conservative Christians have lost the society, but we win the war. As Dreher points out, we need to accept that this is a post- Christian and therefore post-civilized society. To preserve civilization, we need to retreat from it and set up new mini-societies to carry the flame forward. I highly recommend this book as the correct strategy to adopt, and will myself be working to this end.

Closer to the Inklings

It was a mammoth task to record the lives of the four main Inklings and their associates. But the authors achieve their aim admirably - to show how these writers of the last century interacted with each other. Highly recommended.

Historic Premillennialism is a minority view today, but from New Testament times until the time of Augustine, it was the prevailing view. Brown and Keener show that it is the only view that is completely consistent with the New Testament.

Many people hate this teaching, because they are afraid of going through the Tribulation, and would rather they didn't have to. But if you ARE going to have to go through the Tribulation (and you are), wouldn't you rather be prepared?

Postmillennialism was an aberration that crept into the church in the 4th century. Dispensationalism was an aberration that crept into the church in the 9th century. The Bible teaches neither. Brown and Keener carefully explain what the Bible's teaching on eschatology really is.

Not the best P.I.G.

Mostly, I enjoy this series of books. There were some good moments in this book, such as a strong support of Israel. However, I think the author got a few ideas wrong. His support for Saudi Arabia is probably misplaced. Also,bhis favorite Israeli PM was Sharon, but he was the one who gave Gaza away, leading to the rocket attacks today. And he barely mentioned the work of the best Israeli PM (in my opinion), Binyamin Netanyahu.

A good basic overview

This set of lectures gives a good basic overview of the book of Revelation. While I was a little disappointed that Keener did not tackle certain areas of controversy, such as the timing of the Rapture, he kept focused on bringing out the meaning of each section, in a manner which I found to be of great value.

Unpopular but True

It is a shock to read the phrase "Darwin was wrong" at the start of a secular biography of the evolutionary saint. Consequently many of the reviews on Amazon are negative. However, Wilson is not a Christian, and is an evolutionist - though obviously not a Darwinist. Readers with an open mind, however, will find great value in this critical biography; far more than in the lazy hagiographies of the past.
