Historia
A riveting, real-life thriller about 1983 - the year tensions between the United States and the Soviet Union nearly brought the world to the point of nuclear Armageddon. The year 1983 was an extremely dangerous one - more dangerous than 1962, the year of the Cuban Missile Crisis. In the United States, President Reagan vastly increased defense spending, described the Soviet Union as an "evil empire," and launched the "Star Wars" Strategic Defense Initiative to shield the country from incoming missiles.

Interesting subject - mediocre telling
Revisado: 06-14-23
The author does a great job of diving into this very interesting subject and covering it thoroughly including context. There is a clear English bias to the writing - every country makes mistakes and the British are always there to save the day! That can be tolerated though as it’s good for American readers to get an outside perspective.
The narrator is really poor. He sounds like and Englishman impersonating and British accent most of the time and his attempts at American and Russian accents are really atrocious. Many times while listening to this book I felt distracted by the narration.

Amazing story of an amazing man
Revisado: 10-16-19
Mora's story is absolutely incredible and bigger than life. The book is well written and, for the most part, it is well read. I did find some of the narrator's "voices" odd but overall it didn't take away from how good the story is

An extraordinary firsthand account of the Battle of Midway by one of its key participants, timed to the 75th anniversary: American dive-bomber pilot "Dusty" Kleiss helped sink three Japanese warships (including two aircraft carriers), received the Navy Cross, and is credited with playing a decisive individual role in determining the outcome of a battle that is considered a turning point in World War II.

An excelent read!
Revisado: 06-15-18
This book was right up my alley per say. I loved the technical aviation aspects of it, I loved the first-hand accounts of such a pivotal battle and I really enjoyed learning about this amazing, humble man. All around, I 100% recommend this book. The narrator does a good job of reading and you get the feel you are sitting down listening to Jack tell stories (which I love). However, something with they way they produced the recording, at the beginning of every chapter the narrator's voice is noticeably different. By 5 minutes into the chapter he has returned to "normal", but at the beginning of most chapters there is a sharp and noticeable change in the narration.

A solid, Christian men's book
Revisado: 10-04-17
I read this book over 10 years ago as part of my per-marital counseling. It was compelling and informative then so I decided to re-read it/listen to it. I LOVED having the book read by the author. He was able to add so much more than any other could have. Overall, the book lays out a solid foundation of what we as men need to be focused on and what is going on in our hearts and minds, below our consciousness. A valuable read for any man.
