basically a short story drawn out. sounds as if it was written by a girl in highschool trying her hand at romance novels. story was cute and somewhat original. Allegra read like an 18 year old instead of a woman in her 30s.

It's not unexpected that this series would be as popular as it is solely due to the explicit sexual content. However, the context of the book reads like a Barbara Cartland novel where the heroine seems to have no tenacity or strength unless it's given by the hero. This book reads like a 17-year old's highschool diary. The inner thoughts so overly expressed by Ana sound so much like an unrequited teenager. The movies did better justice to the character of Ana by showing her stronger. I enjoyed the underlying storyline of the romance between Ana and Christian but listening is so difficult to endure that I fast-forwarded through much of it and often jumped chapters.
The narration by Ms. Battoe is dry and borderline somnolent. I didn't know people in Seattle spoke with southern accents.

what can you add to the already venerable ma. Stevenson. her command of accented voices and her command of overall story telling is nothing short of fabulous.
I fell in love with Elizabeth Haskell's North and South many years ago and then again when BBC made it into a movie. her characters are relateable and moving. the subtext of each characters is so well scripted you feel as though you have known them personally for ages.
I have recommended this story many times and was so excited when my granddaughter (13) read it and fell in love with it as much as I.

I was amazed at how the story was read, not like a typical book, which was refreshing and kept me more caught up in the story. The story was captivating and filled with unexpected twists and turns. The characters were fresh and so real, especially the way it was read. The narrators were extraordinary. I would definitely recommend this again and again.
