Historia
For David Goggins, childhood was a nightmare--poverty, prejudice, and physical abuse colored his days and haunted his nights. But through self-discipline, mental toughness, and hard work, Goggins transformed himself from a depressed, overweight young man with no future into a US Armed Forces icon and one of the world's top endurance athletes. The only man in history to complete elite training as a Navy SEAL, Army Ranger, and Air Force tactical air controller, he went on to set records in numerous endurance events.

Goggins' mental mastery is terrifying & profound.
Revisado: 11-17-19
We often need proof that intense reevaluation is required to become the person we want to be. Goggins' story, along with Jordan Peterson, Elon Musk, Nipsey Hussle, and others in this realm of rare actualizers of potential, has helped me visualize what I am (and most humans are) capable of at the limits of mental control and endurance.

Historia
A wonderful tale of a young man’s coming of age, Zorba the Greek has been a classic of world literature since it was first translated into English in 1952 and made into an unforgettable movie with Anthony Quinn. Zorba, an irrepressible, earthy hedonist, sweeps his young disciple along as he wines, dines, and loves his way through a life dedicated to fulfilling his copious appetites. Zorba is irresistible in this charming audio production by veteran narrator George Guidall.

The characters were rich and real and the frequent juxtaposition between viewpoints of Zorba and the narrator made for some compelling impetus to ponder how one should experience life in the ever-looming, encroaching shadow of death.

Pleasantly concise and engaging, despite narrator.
Revisado: 01-30-18
I'm admittedly a fan of Peterson so the original detail specifically about his childhood and early academic life was very captivating for me. that alone was worth the $5 I paid. the second half of the book was also a nice summary of His political stance and future Direction since gaining so many years of the public.
All that praise aside, the narrator read this book like a first grade teacher would read a fairy tale. Almost to the point of absurdity. I guess the author is either related to her or didn't get a say in who narrated it. This was the only downside and the reason it didn't 5 stars.

Humorous, surprising, and informative, Dr. Peterson tells us why skateboarding boys and girls must be left alone, what terrible fate awaits those who criticize too easily, and why you should always pet a cat when you meet one on the street.

The chapter in the middle where he audibly starts breaking up emotionally, almost made me tear up. Absolutely no one else could've extracted as much meaning out the text as the author did. I'm glad for the wisdom of the mass for choosing this option on his twitter poll.
My one-sentence review is:
Say what you will, but what can't be denied is his sincereity and passion about his message to be self aware on the path to improving your life, so that maybe once you're competent there, you and 7 billion similarly competent others can co-operate (I mean that technically ;D) to establish a peaceful world full of civilized-monster patriarchs and graceful-wise matriarchs noble enough to raise and be worshipped by such men.

Historia
Winner of the Pulitzer Prize in 1974 and the culmination of a life's work, The Denial of Death is Ernest Becker's brilliant and impassioned answer to the "why" of human existence. In bold contrast to the predominant Freudian school of thought, Becker tackles the problem of the vital lie: man's refusal to acknowledge his own mortality. In doing so, he sheds new light on the nature of humanity and issues a call to life and its living that still resonates more than 30 years after its writing.

Fairly interesting book... slow/droning narrator
Revisado: 02-15-17
I don't know what came first, but this book is almost identical to the content (interview quotations and all) of the documentary series "Rise of the Nerds."
If you don't have time, I'd save your money and just watch that 3 part series. It has actual clips of the figures portrayed in the book like Moore, Gates, the creator of VisiCalc and the Homebrew organizer guy who all are much more interesting to listen to than this book's narrator (who's about as dry as a popcorn fart, and not as fast).

This was more a political look at Jefferson than I wanted. the author himself stated that Jefferson's life was much more then just his politics. I wanted to get a more in-depth look at his science and philosophy and home life and this just really didn't do that.
