While from a libertarian/ conservative perspective, this book outlines some very interesting ideas to peaceably separate the two warring factions in the US.

Another great book

Once again the authors and narrator deliver a fantastic space opera. If you haven't read any books from this series, back up to the beginning and start from there. If you love sci-fi, military action, fantastic aliens, highly advanced adversaries and a galaxy with a rich history, this series is for you.

This is the true story no one wants to hear but EVERYONE needs to hear.

It's short and to the point. There's no filler content to increase to page numbers. It goes straight to the heart of the matter and that is exactly what we all need to know.

Michael York does the best he can with it...

While I can appreciate some of the messages author was trying to make, the story just felt disjointed and hard to follow.

The story contains a bit more fluff than I would have cared for but that does not diminish the importance of hearing/ reading it. Once you read it though, there's no going back. You can't un-learn what this book has to teach you.

A great story continues...

I have really enjoyed both books so far. The story and the performance were excellent. If you enjoyed the first book, you'll like this one as well.

My only issues were :
1. I felt the space battles were a bit difficult to follow in the audio format. They were very well done but there were a lot of moving parts to keep up with.
2. This book lacked some of the humor of the first book. I missed that. It helped break things up a little.

Regardless, it was an excellent book and I intend to continue the series.

Fantastic story and performance

Likable characters. Funny, gritty, believable., thoroughly enjoyable. I can't recommend this space opera enough. Enjoy.

A story about a video game

If you like stories with shallow characters, decent action, and just plain old boring story lines, this is the book for you. It quite literally reads like; has the same depth; and character development of a video game. It goes so far as to 'level up' the character and have them place their skill points. That's not an exaggeration. I tried to power thru it but finally gave up around the 2/3 mark.

On a side note, I noticed that the author had to make a political jab about "conservative" advisors being racist. His not-so-subtle attempt to weave his politics into the story felt out of place and forced.

On a good note, the narrator did a great job. He was the best part of this story.

As always, a great story

Michael J Sullivan is one of my favorite authors. The characters are interesting. The story twists and turns and there is depth to the world.

My only complaint would be that there moments with the main group of female characters that felt contrived. The inventor was a little too good at everything for example.
