Historia
Appaloosa, the hometown of Territorial Marshals Virgil Cole and Everett Hitch, continues to prosper, but with prosperity comes a slew of new trouble: carpetbaggers, gamblers, migrants, peddlers, drifters, thieves, and whores, all boiling in a cauldron of excess and greed. And there's a new menace in town: a wealthy, handsome easterner - and the owner of Appaloosa's new casino - Boston Bill Black.

Almost... But something is missing.
Revisado: 08-21-24
This story reminds me of a Jack Handey quote. "Many people think that history is a dull subject. Dull? Is it "dull" that Jesse James once got bitten on the forehead by an ant, and at first it didn't seem like anything, but then the bite got worse and worse, so he went to a doctor in town, and the secretary told him to wait, so he sat down and waited, and waited, and waited, and waited, and then finally he got to see the doctor, and the doctor put some salve on it? You call that dull?"
I guess the story was okay, but it was not Virgil Cole or Everett Hitch. It lacked the one thing that makes the series so unique, namely the coolness of Virgil Cole as a gunhand doing what gunhands do. I am disappointed.

Historia
Born in Castellammare del Golfo, Sicily, Joseph Bonanno found his future amid the whiskey-running, riotous streets of Prohibition America in 1924, when he illegally entered the United States to pursue his dreams. By the age of only 26, Bonanno became a don. He eventually took over the New York underworld, igniting the "Castellammarese War", one of the bloodiest Family battles ever to hit New York City.

Great Story!
Revisado: 02-29-24
I've read this book years ago and wanted to listen to it on audible. The narrator did okay, but when you are tasked with reading a book about Sicilians it is good to learn to pronounce names properly. Calogero is pronounced Calojero, and Lucchese is not pronounced Lucheesy. Lucchese is pronounced Lukayse just like the nice boots.

Addicting
Revisado: 12-14-22
I began this series only a week or so ago just out of curiosity surrounding the Amazon series that I have yet to watch. The first book is extraordinarily addictive, and surprisingly ripped at my emotions. The second book was a very good follow up, but I have to say that the this book, the third in the series was nearly as mesmerizing as the first. Now on to book 4.

Historia
On his last combat deployment, Lt. Cmdr. James Reece's entire team was killed in an ambush that also claimed the lives of the aircrew sent in to rescue them. But when those dearest to him are murdered on the day of his homecoming, Reece discovers that this was not an act of war by a foreign enemy but a conspiracy that runs to the highest levels of government. Now, with no family and free from the military's command structure, Reece applies the lessons that he's learned in over a decade of constant warfare toward revenge.

Still Reeling
Revisado: 12-03-22
I am still coming down from the adrenaline rush from listening to this book. I was surprised at how the author was able to touch my emotions throughout. From the tragic opening to the thrilling ending, I found myself wanting to join Lieutenant Commander Reese in his mission. The reader also did an exceptional job of creating the characters in a believable way. I am starting book two now.

Historia
Open borders, record inflation, and skyrocketing crime—Joe Biden’s first term is one of the most craptastic in American history. But on Planet Brandon, it’s all going according to plan . . . He received 81 million votes. His party controlled the House and the Senate. He took office with a nearly 60 percent approval rating. His first month saw the economy recovering nicely and the new COVID-19 vaccines being distributed around the country. And, in his words, he had the awesome power to mobilize “truinernashabada pressure.”

Rubbish Disguised as Fact
Revisado: 09-13-22
The obvious bias of the author is glaring upon the onset. It is as if the author created a hypothesis for his political ideologies and sought out to prove himself right rather than disproving his hypothesis.

Historia
Jared Kushner was one of the most consequential presidential advisers in modern history. For the first time, he recounts what happened behind closed doors during the Trump presidency. Few White House advisors have had such an expansive portfolio or constant access to the president. From his office next to Trump, senior adviser Jared Kushner operated quietly behind the scenes, preferring to leave the turf wars and television sparring to others.

Good Attempt to Appear Unbiased
Revisado: 06-21-22
Overall informative. I do believe that most college studies on political science, including this one, have a demonstrable bias that tends to lean to the left, mainly when they make the assertions that they claim as unbiased facts and on some "study" that was conducted (keep in mind that most of those conducting these studies are most likely Democrat). Examples are claims that the media remains mostly ethical and unbiased, or that the Republican Party contains more extremists in its ranks. I think it is blatantly obvious based on recent history that assertion is absolutely absurd. That being said, omitting those types of assertions, the lecture was nonetheless informative. One just has to discern the differences.

Historia
In November 1965, some 450 men of the First Battalion, Seventh Cavalry, under the command of Lt. Col. Hal Moore, were dropped by helicopter into a small clearing in the Ia Drang Valley. They were immediately surrounded by 2,000 North Vietnamese soldiers. Three days later, only two and a half miles away, a sister battalion was chopped to pieces. Together, these actions at the landing zones X-Ray and Albany constituted one of the most savage and significant battles of the Vietnam War. How these men persevered makes a vivid portrait of war at its most inspiring and devastating.

Historia
In December 1937, in the capital of China, one of the most brutal massacres in the long annals of wartime barbarity occurred. The Japanese army swept into the ancient city of Nanking and within weeks not only looted and burned the defenseless city but systematically raped, tortured and murdered more than 300,000 Chinese civilians. Amazingly, the story of this atrocity- one of the worst in world history- continues to be denied by the Japanese government.

What a profound piece. This is not for the faint of heart, but it is something that any moral person ought to read, just for the simple fact that those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.
