Beautiful
Revisado: 06-14-16
Heart wrenching and poignant and stunning. A beautiful story about love - particularly the love of a mother. Take heart other moms like me who are freaking out in the middle of this story - fearing a terrible nightmare inducing conclusion. It comes right. Deeply heart wrenching. But right - in the end.

Historia
Jamie Fraser knows from his time-traveling wife, Claire, that, no matter how unlikely it seems, America will win the Revolutionary War. But fighting for the eventual winner is no guarantee of safety. Fantastic as always!

I loved this book, just like I loved all the others. But, she left some pretty stark cliffhangers, so if you can wait - I'd suggest waiting until the next book comes out and getting them together cause it is torture having to wait!!!

Historia
Jamie Fraser knows from his time-traveling wife Claire that, no matter how unlikely it seems, America will win the Revolutionary War. But that truth offers little solace, since Jamie realizes he might find himself pointing a weapon directly at his own son - a young officer in the British army. And Jamie isn't the only one with a tormented soul - for Claire may know who wins the conflict, but she certainly doesn't know whether or not her beloved Jamie survives.

Great subjec, boring portrayal.
Revisado: 11-24-09
I love to read, and especially love audiobooks, and am not hard to please, but this book was extremely dull. The characters were flat, and even though what was "happening" to them should have been interesting, it was as if nothing really did happen. It was all so easy and safe, and BORING. Maybe it had something to do with the very slow narration, but really the writing is just flat and sophomoric. I read the entire thing, hoping that something would finally happen, and somehow I did care a tiny tiny bit about the characters, but my main feeling when it was over was of relief. I actually shuddered when I considered reading the next book in the series.

Historia
Irene Nemirovsky was arrested soon after completing the second part of Suite Francaise. Ten days later, on August 17, 1942, she died of typhus in Auschwitz-Birkenau. Her husband, Michel, perished in a gas chamber on November 6. Their daughters, Denise and Elizabeth, survived, hidden in safe houses and convents, carrying a suitcase packed with clothes, photographs, and their mother's manuscript written in tiny letters to save paper.

Thought provoking but felt unfinished
Revisado: 11-05-06
This book is highly engaging, and very well written. The picture it paints of life during WW2 is unique and powerful. This book is intriguing and gripping, but at the end it felt unfinished. It felt as if the characters whom I'd come to care about, were left with their stories not completely told.

Stunning!!!! Wonderful!!!!
Revisado: 11-05-06
This is a wonderful wonderful book. I couldn't stop listening. I have spent my entire Sunday listening to this book because I didn't want it to ever stop. It captured me completely, and had me alternately grinning and in tears. It is extremely moving and beautifully written. This story is heart wrenching and tragic and brilliant. It is a book for readers.

Historia
My Man Jeeves, first published in 1919, introduced the world to affable, indolent Bertie Wooster and his precise, capable valet, Jeeves. Some of the finest examples of humorous writing found in English literature are woven around the relationship between these two men of very different classes and temperaments. Where Bertie is impetuous and feeble, Jeeves is coolheaded and poised.

Historia
Why we think it’s a great listen: Some books are meant to be read; others are meant to be heard – Water for Elephants falls into the second group, and is one of the best examples we have of how a powerful performance enhances a great story. Nonagenarian Jacob Jankowski reflects back on his wild and wondrous days with a circus. It's the Depression Era and Jacob, finding himself parentless and penniless, joins the Benzini Brothers Most Spectacular Show on Earth.

Revisado: 08-29-06
Just a fantastic story! From the beginning I was wrapped up in the story. The characters are real and wonderful, and the story is fascinating and heart wrenching. By the end I was grinning from ear to ear as my eyes teared up, and laughing out loud, all at the same time.
