Historia
Texas, 1921. A time of abundance. The Great War is over, the bounty of the land is plentiful, and America is on the brink of a new and optimistic era. But for Elsa Wolcott, deemed too old to marry in a time when marriage is a woman’s only option, the future seems bleak. Until the night she meets Rafe Martinelli. By 1934, the world has changed; millions are out of work and drought has devastated the Great Plains. Elsa must make an agonizing choice: fight for the land she loves or leave it behind and go west, to California, in search of a better life for her family.

Poignant, soul-touching story of human perseverance
Revisado: 02-06-23
Another heartfelt story that brought forth so many emotions as I experienced the characters’ lives through the author’s words and narrator’s performance. A truly beautiful rendition, I thoroughly enjoyed it from beginning to end.

Engaging and suspenseful!
Revisado: 09-19-21
I just finished listening to the audio version of Her Only Regret and thoroughly enjoyed it! I found myself awake after midnight, not wanting to end it for the night. This was the second book by Keith Houghton I have listened to, and both were equally as spell-binding. The narrator, Helen D. Gordon, made the events believable with her exceptional story-telling skills, making each character come to life, revealing their secrets and playing on the emotions of the readers like a fine, musical instrument.
Bravo to both the author and narrator! I will be watching for more from each of you!

Historia
Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative reporter Joanna Ford abandons a 20-year career and moves to rural Makah Island in the Pacific Northwest to care for her ailing wife. She takes a job at the weekly local paper to pay the bills, and it’s as mind-numbing as the endless overcast days - she’d trade all the coffee in Seattle for one more shot at a real story. But when she finally gets that break, she discovers that gravel back roads lead to dark places and devastating secrets.

Revisado: 02-21-21
Great book, enjoyed it very much! Narrator Helen Gordon is a skilled storyteller, and I look forward to hearing her depiction as Jo Ford once again in the next read! I find myself looking for books she has narrated. Without a doubt, she has a knack for bringing a book’s characters to life!!! Awesome job!!!
