You are still my favorite
Revisado: 12-18-23
The plot was always moving forward with unanticipated complications. Didn’t like some of the “voices” but that’s a minor drawback. Congrats on a good thriller.

Somebody pushed Shelby Poinsett out her second-floor library window, and it wasn't her husband. At least that's what Charleston's most prestigious law firm wants Liz Talbot to prove. Liz must run the spectrum of Southern society, from the local homeless shelter where Shelby volunteered to the 100-year-old book club where Charleston's genteel ladies are dying to join, to bring a killer to justice.

Narrator needs to learn correct pronunciation
Revisado: 10-01-23
I can get through the southern accents ok but narrator is obviously unfamiliar with collects in church prayers. Otherwise enjoyed the story while planting my fall garden.

SUREFIRE HIT !

Excellent narration as expected with GG ! Good story line. Couldn’t buy the ending though as Vic is too savvy to not know what’s going on.

Couldn’t wait for it to be over
Revisado: 09-07-23
Wanted the storyline to be better. Narrator ruined this for me. Will avoid her in future. I almost never leave review but AVOID THIS BOOK AND NARRATOR unless you need to be punished for something you’ve done wrong.

Waste of time
Revisado: 02-09-21
The story so far is rather trite and unimaginative and the narration leaves much to be desired. Other reviews indicate that I should stick it out but not going to commit another 7+ hours to it.

Historia
The Goldfinch is a haunted odyssey through present-day America and a drama of enthralling force and acuity. It begins with a boy. Theo Decker, a 13-year-old New Yorker, miraculously survives an accident that kills his mother. Abandoned by his father, Theo is taken in by the family of a wealthy friend. Bewildered by his strange new home on Park Avenue, disturbed by schoolmates who don't know how to talk to him, and tormented above all by his unbearable longing for his mother, he clings to one thing that reminds him of her: a small, mysteriously captivating painting that ultimately draws Theo into the underworld of art.

Too much angst
Revisado: 07-02-19
Beautifully written but most of it is very depressing. Covers early teen alcoholism and drug use, abandonment, shoplifting/stealing, much to much contemplation of the meaning of life and suicide, parental separation and loss by violent means highlighted with too brief flashes of true friendship and love. Briefly , a real “downer” of a story that goes on and on and on and on. I was contemplating suicide right along with Decker before it concluded.
