As usual, Kandi has put out a great story, but I felt the narration made it almost impassable to listen to. I found a couple of times I had to rewind to see if I’d missed something, a lot of dead air between chapters; when the female narrator spoke, you could hear her either turning pages or bumping things. Sometimes you could even hear birds chirping, and the voice got louder and quieter as if they kept moving the mic.

This was a new author to me, and I listened to the first book and loved it, so I decided to listen to this one. The book was sort of bland and more of a will they won’t they back and forth. In the story, she’s spent more time with her friend than the actual male love interest. It was just weird. They get together in the last 45 minutes of the book, and then that’s all. I did not care for the female narrator and her fake Cuban accents. It was definitely a going to bed listen because if I missed anything, they’d be doing the same thing when I woke up.

Honestly, I never write reviews. I really love K.A. Linde's books, and this the first book I felt was just okay. It has a lot of back and fourth between Ash and Cole. The female character was indecisive right up until the last four minutes of the book, and you basically get a that’s all they lived happily ever after. Felt like if there had been less back and forth, there would’ve been more time to tell the story of the couple actually being together.

Apparently, I don't see the authors vision because this story was terrible and I couldn't make it past the first portion of the story. The way he treats the female character is borderline emotional abuse, he and HR nightmare and it's not in the cute I slept with my employee storyline. He treats her badly and then blocks her in his office, puts his hands up her skirt, and then shows up at her house after he says he doesn't want to see her again. I can't image why she still shows up at work. Follows the same 50 Shades storyline, rich and powerful man with bad past life experience, falls for the inexperienced women and despite small efforts cannot stay away. Inexperienced girl falls for the jerky man because she can "fix" him.
As always Sabastian York did his part in pulling the story along and probably the main reason I listened to the first part of the story. The female narrator Erin Mallon was hard to listen to due to audible intake of air after every sentence.
