Timber Creek series
Revisado: 10-04-20
This is the 2nd book in the series I've read and have really enjoyed the stories. The characters are well done and very interesting and I love Robo.....he's a great dog!!!! The vet adds another dynamic to the plot and the town sounds like it's a good place to live, in general.

Happy Endings???
Revisado: 08-01-20
I so enjoyed the battle, the pelude to it and watching Julian come into his own as a worthy leader. I admired the heroes & was saddened by Kit & Ty's estrangement. This series, as the others, is well worth reading/listening to. I'd highly recommend it. I did find the epilogue very disturbing & can only speculate that this will be the catalyst for the next books in the Shadowhunter saga. I will hopefully find out before too much longer.

The Plot Thickens
Revisado: 07-22-20
This is an excellent 2nd book in the trilogy. Often that is not the case, but in this story there is so much dramatic action & emotion it's hard to keep up with it. There is death, unexplained illness, family trauma & drama and of course, love. The story of Emma & Julian is very intricate, the love between Kieren & Mark is complex....especially when Cristina is added into the mix, & the idea of the Blackthorns against their world continues as the plotline of these 3 stories unfolds. My heart was in pieces by the end of the book, when there is death that shakes the world of Shadowhunters....especially the Blackthorns & Lightwoods.

Triumphs & Tragedies
Revisado: 06-29-20
This was one of the best stories in this series.,,,in my opinion. I love the dynamic between Aurora & her husband, his with her brother Philip and, of course, Aurora & her brother. There was a lot of drama & emotion throughout the storyline, and the interactions among the various characters was real and to the point. I like the way the author wove the bullying story within the main plotlilne. It really highlighted this problem from both sides and I have to say that I was shocked at the attitude of Marlana especially, in this regard. That entire family was mortally flawed & I'm not sure redemption would even be possible. The happy ending for most of the people in the book was heartwarming, but there was also grief, anger strength.

This book was a little more intense than the previous ones I've read in this series. It revolved around women, babies and what people will do for them. I did really like it, though I thought it was more sad than anything. There were a lot of family dynamics involved and some resolution for several relationships. I think this series is worth listening to and would recommend it.

Families
Revisado: 06-07-20
This is a great followup to the Mortal Instruments series and takes us along on the further adventures of Simon Lewis, one of the most interesting characters in that set. The other people he was with in the series also appear in these 11 short stories and through all of them we get a clearer picture of Shadowhunter lives. There is humor, prejudice, love, uncertainty, and various other human struggles. It was a lot of fun to hear of his experiences as he goes through his 2 years of schooling and the "graduation" gave him the rest of his story while also giving him one of the worst moments of his life. I highly recommend this after reading the complete Mortal Instrument books.

Insights
Revisado: 05-25-20
This is the 2nd book of the trilogy and I really liked the fact that a lot of the characters introduced in the 1st book have had a lot of development in the 2nd one. It's interesting how easily Manfred (who just moved to Midnight in the 1st book) fits into this diverse & strange little town. Also, through difficult events & strange happenings a lot more is learned about the residents of this town.....particularly the main ones. The storyline is intricate & twisty but keeps interest in the story high. I like all the interactions between various groupings within the town & how it shows both the place each character holds within the group & how the others in that group view each other. A very good sequel & I'm getting ready to listen to the third one.

Historia
From Charlaine Harris, the best-selling author who created Sookie Stackhouse and her world of Bon Temps, Louisiana, comes a darker locale - populated by more strangers than friends. But then, that's how the locals prefer it. Welcome to Midnight, Texas, a town with many boarded-up windows and few full-time inhabitants, located at the crossing of Witch Light Road and Davy Road. It' s a pretty standard dried-up western town.

Revisado: 05-22-20
This is a really good story. I had just recently finished the Sookie Stackhouse series & liked it so much that I became interested to read other books by the same author. This is what I picked & have thoroughly enjoyed it. There are 3 books in the set so I'm going to read the other 2 now. I read it in book form 1st but I admit that I really prefer the audiobook for these stories. I believe I will enjoy the other 2 as well, since I like this setting & the characters are diverse & very well-drawn.

Love & Hate
Revisado: 05-18-20
I can't wait for the last audiobook in this series...when I got them I wasn't sure I'd even like the storyline but I really do. Even though this series is listed as teen I believe there's a lot in these stories for people of all different ages, as long as they have an open mind for fantasy tales. This one, in particular, was in large part a story of families & relationships of various kinds. Of course male/female ones have been a theme throughout the stories but also about how personal insecurities can dictate many of our decisions within those relationships, often with disasterous results. It also shows the main "bad guy" has at least, in small part, the same desire for love & acceptance as any other person....he just tries to get it in unhealthy ways. There are a lot of life lessons to be learned in this story, if one chooses to see them & learn from them.

For another, she and her brother, Jace, have fallen under a cloud of suspicion now that the Shadowhunter world knows that Valentine is still alive - and that Jace and Clary are his son and daughter.

I'm really enjoying this series, even though I still have 4 books left to read. I like reading teen books, but then I loved when my kids were all teenagers. It was so interesting to watch them find themselves & start to figure out their world and this series seems to remind me of those years. I have found myself involved in a lot of teen fantasy books & now my grandchildren are of that age now (some of them, anyway). Often when I've finished I recommend the books to them. That makes me their "cool" grandma but there's a lot to learn about life, love, friendship and family in this series, particularly, even for older people. I'd imagine for a teen it would be right on target for what they're struggling with, as well. I'm really happy that I discovered this book series.
